Sold as local pickup, but the buyer is ignoring all communication.

One of my items was just bought with local pickup as the shipping, but looking at the address, they live over 100 km from my warehouse. They paid on Thursday, and I have already sent two messages to arrange the pickup, but I've not yet received any response.

Now what? Do I cancel the transaction?

FWIW- it is the weekend, and it is possible that the buyer does not look at emails on the weekend.

More to the point, you have to wait 96 hours (four days) to open an Unpaid Item Dispute in the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page.

If the customer does not pay up within another 96 hours (eight days total, what a pain) then you can close the Dispute get your FVFs back and relist.

Don't forget to add the deadbeat to your Blocked Bidder List.

If you are selling at Fixed Price, you can add Immediate Payment Required, and the listing stays open until someone pays.

  • The drawback is that Immediate Payment means Paypal and PP fees.

If you are selling at Auction, it seems that most Unpaid Item Disputes come out of the dying Auction format, another reason why auctions are less than 15% of transactions.

  • OTOH you may have an underbidder who is still interested.

Since they paid and you have their money, unless you really need to kick the purchased item out of the warehouse quickly, I would give them a week to set things up.

You should still have their phone number with the order details, use that as to give them a call or text message later in the week to get things moving.

Things happen, lots of reasons for a slow response from a buyer.

Furthest I have had a Buyer come to pick up something was 600km (they made a road trip of it and visited relatives along the journey, so it took them a few days to set up a pickup date).
