Sold item marked as unpaid

Hi, I received confirmation that one the item I listed was sold, as well as paypal's notification of payment for the item. I understand that since I am a new seller the money will be accessible to me only when the item has been delivered. However, waht bother me is that when I go on my account and check said item, it is said that it has not been paid yet by the buyer. Should I wait before shipping the item?

Which account shows Paid?

EBay and Paypal are not always properly synched up.

The important one is Paypal.

Never believe your Sold list in eBay saying the item is paid. This can be done manually by either the seller or the buyer.*

Only believe Paypal.

And not an email that says it's from Paypal.

Your Paypal account.

If it isn't there, it has not cleared the banking system.

Now.

Your buyer may have only backed his PP account with his bank account. That's okay, but in effect he wrote an "e-cheque". It has to clear.

And only then will it show as "pending".

I don't have to explain that to you.

BTW, your customer sees that his bank has removed the payment from his account well before PP receives it.  If he enquires politely explain this to him and suggest that in future, his payments will be truly instant if he backs his PP account with a credit card.

Do not ship until the cleared payment is in Paypal.

*Because a local pickup, paid in cash, won't show up any other way.

Was your listing a Buy-it-now with immediate payment required?

All of my items are set this way and about a month ago, I received a message from ebay saying the buyer had not yet paid, so don't ship it.  However, in my Paypal, the money was there.  I decided this was just a glitch, so I shipped the item right away.
