Swarovski controversy….VeRO or other sellers?

I am a long time SCS Swarovski collector and I have been selling my Swarovski figurines for a while now on eBay.
This last few days eBay has been pulling my Swarovski listings by communicating this:

" Your listing didn't follow our VeRO Unauthorized Item Policy. Unauthorized copies or counterfeits are illegal and not allowed on eBay"

"Your listing was reported by the rights owner listed below as a counterfeit item".

I am as I said a SCS  Swarovski collector and buy my items through a authorized retailer or Swarovski. How can anybody sell a counterfeit item they are all Hallmarked with their logo.

My question is: can another seller report you if they see you as a competitor?

would like to know your view on this and if there is anything I can do about it.

Please don't start to imply that my items may be fakes because they are not. I bought them myself and I know .

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your dilema. I think you may find the attached forum post link helpful.  As this is a common issue you can also find other threads giving information by searching "VERO" in the forum and "eBay VERO" on YouTube.

Re: Swarovski controversy….VeRO or other sellers?

First I have heard about Vero with Swarovski.  I searched .com and there are 270,000 Swarovski listings and 26,000 under Sculptures & Figurines.

It does seem to happen that for some reason someone's listings get flagged even though thousands of others are selling the exact same thing.  It can be random.

About all I can think of is to ask how to ensure compliance, so that you can continue selling like everyone else is.   Perhaps others with better knowledge can chime in.

You could always contact the company and ask. I suspect it may have to do with some of the international shipping destinations. It's possible some of their products have regional restrictions.

Re: Swarovski controversy….VeRO or other sellers?

eBay has said in the past that they would not remove a listing based on another ebayer's complaint that the item was counterfeit. But I think that ebay has authorized a few 'professionals' to report counterfeits in some categories such as handbags but that wouldn't be a VERO removal.

The only one who can file a VERO is the rights holder or someone who has their permission to do so.  There are companies out there that look for counterfeits at the request of the rights holder though I don't think they are always that careful about what they report.

Did they give you an email address to contact whoever made the VERO report?  You may be able to appeal it there.

If it has something to do with international shipping they should have specified the removal was because it was a  Parallel Import problem related to shipping to specific countries.

Essillor recently purchased the rights to some of the brands products

Usually the new license holder will look to wipe out anyone selling that brand online. Not fun for small business.
