So I recently sold an item at auction. This is my first time having sold something here. Everything has been straight forward up to now. When I look at the item, it says to invoice the buyer now. Does the buyer not have the option to "Pay now". Every time I have bought here, I paid instantly. Did I miss doing something? Is it not set up so payment can be made automatically? I have not received payment yet but I understand it may take a bit for the buyer to get around to it. Not worried about that. I'm just wondering if I need to do more now or do I just wait? My Paypal info should be on here. Thanks for any help.

Personally I wait for payment, if it doesn't arrive by the next afternoon I send an invoice.
A good chunk on my buyers don't pay until the invoice comes and then there are always a small number that don't respond immediately to the invoice.

Not everyone pays right away. I just had one where they did not pay right away - I send an invoice on the third day and they paid on the fourth day - no problems.

When I see something on my sold list I look to see if the item has been paid for already. If no payment has been made I send an invoice. Part of the job I always thought. If the buyer does not pay within 4 days of sending the invoice I contact them via email stating "I'd like to get this "B 52 BOMBER" in the mail. I await your payment."

"When I look at the item, it says to invoice the buyer now. Does the buyer not have the option to "Pay now"."
As a matter of policy, I always send an invoice as soon as advised by eBay that a buyer has made a purchase.

I have received four replies and non of them answered my question. Sorry if I was not more clear. Is an invoice automatically sent to the buyer i.e. "Pay Now" with all the relevant information (paypal info,link-amount etc) or do I have to create all that manually with an invoice? I am not asking if I should or not. Do I have to or do I do nothing and wait? If I do nothing and assuming the buyer follows through, is everything in place?

You dont have to send anything. In fact if you go send an invoice ebay will display a message that they've already notified the buyer. The only time you'd need to is if you were adjusting the shipping amount from what you ahd the listing set up as

Thank you. That is the answer I was looking for. I won't pester the buyer until a reasonable time has passed.

"You dont have to send anything"
Some sellers do, some do not. I do.
How? I click on Send an Invoice.
If a buyer purchases more than one item, the invoice will combine all purchases.
If there is a need to revise the shipping charge, that is the time to do it.
If I need to send a special message to that buyer - for whatever reason - that is also the best time to do it (special instruction box).
"Every time I have bought here, I paid instantly.'
That is great. ALL sellers love you. However, not all buyers pay instantly, for a number of reason. Some may want to take another look at your other items and see if they need to purchase something else from you. There is no point in paying for an item, buy another one later that day and pay again (more fees to the seller). Others may buy from the office but wait until they get home to use PayPal for security reasons, etc...
Looking at my own transactions, on average, only one buyer in two pays within an hour of the purchase. The rest pay later that week or combine purchases from my other listings. 🙂
