So the long hard fight on the "best offers" being auto added to listings
I just call in every couple of days as i'm not wasting my time taking them off and on the road most of the time and its a real pain to find them on iphone.
So when I call in, they have to ask me for my permission to take the "best offers" OFF ....... makes me laugh every time
So here's my problem's with them enforcing best offer's besides the crime it's self
1) How many people lost track of the best offers they actual set on the listings and now you just leave off?
2)How many people have disabled notifications emails for reduced listing bc you just know its 90% false
3) To the best of my knowledge if a person feels mistrust they don't come back .... and truly believe Ebay is setting themselves up for lost clients to post and purchases. I just started looking into other sites that are up and running so I do have options to look at, but like all of you that have your hard work invested in posting all the listing to think about. And yes of course Ebay is the largest right now but I can see them being the next nortel or .com that everyone says wow I didn't see that coming 😉
4) Then some are posting extremely high prices so when ebay throws on "best offer" they have nothing to deal with but will get a lot more if someone been drinking and hits buy now 😉
Basically there's more points i could list why it's just bad for business as I don't see anything that makes sense with this a winning idea some mastermind came up with?
Happy holidays to one and all!

using PC .... Advance .... thanks .... I had to phone in 4 times in 3 hours bc they would fix and just show up 5 mins later .... even heard them say "well i just fixed that one and that one " while on the phone.

That's one strategy, having a high asking price plus Best Offer, but I agree it is not always sensible.
Since you are travelling a lot, you could try setting your Seller Preferences to refuse BOs under a certain dollar value or percentage and to accept automatically those above a certain level.
Whether that includes inflating your asking price is up to you.
It's not perfect, but it's better than spending all your time futzing with Customer Service.
Is part of the problem that you are not being notified of Offers and therefore cannot deal with them politely and promptly?

Having too high of prices actually deters buyers from your listings. I've come across that where when I lowered the price (despite best offer on) suddenly watchers and offers came in.
ebay will often notify watchers by email (if allowed) if there is a price drop for an item they are watching.

You have the best words @ futzing. My new favourite word.

I call that the 'Sears discount'.
Sears made a practice of introducing new stock at a high price, leaving it there for a week or two, then discounting it.
The 'real' price was the discount price.
When they got to the dregs, they would discount more, but of course like most 'real' discounts, colour and size were limited.
If you got the catalogues it was fairly apparent.
The Consumers Bureau fined them regularly for doing this, but they kept it up, considering the fines a cost of doing business.
