You may be loosing sales because of Ebay problems

I purchased 281291746664, 281291746841 and 281291746841. My primary delivery address is in USA but small items like this one I usually get delivered to Canada. Went to pay, changed address and Ebay won't let me pay with message: One or more of the items below cannot be purchased because the seller does not ship to the location selected.

There is also: Please change your address or contact the seller to request an exception by requesting total.

When clicking Request Total link, Ebay gives me an error:  The seller does not offer combined shipping discounts.

The seller has disallowed combined payments and shipping discounts. Please proceed to checkout to complete your purchase

Just asked the seller to cancel my purchases.

I would have asked the seller to send me an invoice through Paypal with the previously agreed shipping discount.

You did have an agreement with the seller about the shipping discount before you bid, right?

It's also possible that the seller is signed up for the Global Shipping Program. One of the many poorly thought out policies in the GSP is that sellers cannot combine and discount shipping.

Or have the seller ship to your US address. The GSP only interferes with international shipments.

Aha -- I see the seller is in China and the item ships from China.  Free shipping to Canada is shown in the listing.  I didn't check the other items, but if they were similar it may have created a disconnect between the Chinese eBay site and yours.

I can't see that the problem is related to the GSP, but in your situation I would have simply emailed the seller to sort out the invoice for you and provide the free shipping advertised in the listing.  If the seller refused, then I'd ask for a cancellation.

Sometimes international shipping with automated discounts can get tricky for sellers because of the way eBay processes orders.  I'd give the seller the benefit of the doubt, as I said, and give them a chance to adjust the shipping before asking to cancel, but that's up to you, and may depend on how easy or difficult it is to find the same item at the same price elsewhere.

Were you buying from within eBay.ca or eBay.com?  That may have made a difference, as I don't believe the Canadian site is fully integrated and seamless with some other major eBay sites yet.

Guys, there is so many websites to buy from, no point investigating why $5 order failed. I only thought sellers may want to know. I already bought kapton tape on another Chinese website. There is one US website I frequently buy from with lot of Chinese stuff that ships from USA, unfortunately they only had 6in wide roll.

Re: You may be loosing sales because of Ebay problems

How is this an eBay problem? This has nothing to do with eBay, it is purely a seller's decision about what they want to do.

A lot of assumptions being made about where this seller ships from. Where they say they ship from, may not be true. Plus, I have run into sellers with a number of shipping points.

This could cause different shipping options. Regardless of whether it is can't or won't, to them it is not worth the hassle for a $5 sale.
