eBay and 2 Month GST/HST Break

Has anyone heard about how the 2 month GST/HST break for certain items will, or if it will, be applied to eBay purchases?

Nope!

But keep in mind that this is still considered “proposed legislation,” I believe.

For sure.  Curious to see if "online" gets different treatment.

eBay will probably make an attempt to comply but they will do it by Category/Sub-Category which will result in some qualifying items not getting the exemption and some non-qualifying items getting the exemption.

I don’t see why online sales would be treated any differently under the proposed legislation.

Many of the items on the list of included articles can be purchased online pretty easily, such as food and clothing, and I suspect many Canadians habitually purchase these items online anyway.

Note that there are some significant items that don’t qualify for this tax break, though. Fuel, utilities, and eBay fees immediately come to mind.
