eBay no longer provides return labels for US to Canada orders?

Just got off the phone with eBay customer service, apparently a recent change has been made where you can no longer purchase a return label via eBay for items that have been shipped to the US from Canada.

Normally that’s no problem, I’d purchase a return label from Stallion.. apparently they are no longer allowing return labels from US to Canada either. Has anyone run into this issue yet? Where are you purchasing your return labels from?

This seems like a big vulnerability on mid-value items, if a buyer claims INAD and you’re forced to purchase a label outside of eBay via counter purchase or otherwise it’s likely to become prohibitively expensive to get a return on items that are less than $100 as being able to make the money back on the 2 ways of shipping will be essentially a wash.

Sell item for $50, spend $12 on label, buy outside label for ??? (Assuming $20+) you’re in for $32 + COGS.

It almost becomes mathematically correct to just refund the item at that point and let it go.

Open to any suggestions on where people are purchasing return labels from now without having to purchase from a counter and having taking returns be not worth accepting under a certain amount.

As I mentioned earlier it really seems like a new vulnerability that Canadian sellers have to deal with is selling to the US.

Re: eBay no longer provides return labels for US to Canada orders?

eBay in Canada has NEVER provided return labels for anything other than domestic returns. The same applies to ALL eBay sites, .com, .uk, .de etc. none of them provide international return labels.

If you need to provide a return label from the US there are a number of options available:

Pirate Ship

Shippo

USPS (Ship 'n' Click) I'm not sure if that still works without a US payment source

Pirate Ship is probably the easiest with the best rates. Alternatively you can always provide the buyer with the funds for them to purchase the label but they would be buying at retail instead of the discounted rates Pirate Ship offers.

Didn’t realize that as the customer service rep said it was a recent change I took it at face value, normally did any returns through Stallion and haven’t had an excessive amount, so not well versed in it.

Thanks for the other options, I will look into them further.

Re: eBay no longer provides return labels for US to Canada orders?

If you, as a buyer, are returning any purchase, it would be polite to clearly mark the label with RETURNED MERCHANDISE, so that the seller does not get hit with unwarranted tariffs or other import fees.

If you as a seller are providing a Return Shipping Label* politely request that the buyer also mark the shipment as Returned Merchandise, if that is not already on the label.

Another reason for being cordial and helpful to even the most idiotic scamming dimwitted difficult customer.
