ebay stealing my money in broad daylight !

I sent my item ($116.00 CAD) to Great Britain by post cheapest parcel without tracking number / insurance as my buyer asked for. Yes, he asked and agreed for this post service at his own risk if not delivered, lost, stolen during transit.

After 3 weeks he opened a case "Item not received" . I have an official post receipt showing clearly that this parcel is accepted at the post office.

Ebay closed this case in buyer favor and money was debited from my account because I don't have a tracking number !!!!!

HEY EBAY !!!   I HAVE AN AGREEMENT WITH MY BUYER !!!! PLEASE RETURN MY MONEY BACK TO MY ACCOUNT.

as my buyer asked for.

It wasn't eBay who stole your money and your item.

This is a classic scam.

And you fell for it.

The seller chooses the service, not the buyer.

The service chosen is one of the very few Seller Protections available to us.

The scammer customer now has both your money and your item.

Put him on your Blocked Bidder List before he strikes again.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ! i know exactley how you feel ! ebay is aiding and abeting scam buyers and lets them get away with it . you might as well scream at a wall.

we e-bay sellers need to get organized as a mass amount of us sellers and need to send e bay a message .
one way to do it is for a large number of sellers cancel all of their listing at the same time .
that might get their attention .

well you are partially right about the other seller falling for the classic scam .
but and i mean a big but !
E BAY OFFERS NEXT TO NO PROTECTION TO SELLERS ! PERIOD !
most any buyer can make any claim and by default they get the claim always in their favor .

How does a receipt stating that you sent the item refute your buyer’s claim that they haven’t received the item?

By the sounds of things, you sent the item by surface mail and it could take at least another three weeks for it to reach the buyer.

Your buyer may not necessarily be scamming you. They just may have no idea how long it takes parcel post to cross the pond by boat.

If you’ve got an honest buyer that understands that their refund is coming from you and not a magic pot belonging to eBay, they will make an effort to pay you again when the item eventually shows up.

Hi

I sent to UK by CPC airmail small packet and I have an original post receipt & Shippo original label. This is enough proof that Canada Post accepted my parcel.

Shipping method was chosen by buyer  (to save money on shipping, $21.00 vs $56.00 tracked)  and he agreed to my terms that "no claim, refund if not delivered, lost or stolen during transit time". I hope that I made it very clear.

Thank you

Canada Post's estimated delivery time for "surface" mail to Europe:

1-2 months

unfortunately ebay's rules over shadow your rules.. perhaps a friendly email to your buyer, that when the item shows up to please let you know, so you can send them an invoice to pay for the item..

I see it has been a long time since I've posted my form letters, I will try to put up the latest ones soon.

For now, when I refund the money, I always include a statement something like this: "Assuming the parcel does arrive after that, let me know and I will send another invoice so you can pay again (small parcels like this are not insured so I am out 100% if they do not arrive)."

Historically this has worked well for me, but I am in the stamps category which is overall a safer category buyers wise....

The buyer could also just use Paypal's Send Money service to return the refund. No need for billing (and more fees).

But my money, based on the fact that HE demanded the cheaper less secure service, is that he is sneering at the OP's frustration.

So was this the bottle of perfume you were shipping?  If so, that's considered a dangerous goods and should not have been shipped using Canada Post to begin with.  And it wouldn't surprise me if it gets held up at UK customs, maybe even permanently.

There's definitely several lessons you've hopefully learned here....

Seller just said they sent it airmail. Where are you getting surface. I don't see that anywhere.

That's partly my fault.  The OP's first message stated that they used the cheapest parcel service, and I thought that would be surface parcel, forgetting that Canada Post also markets small packet as a parcel service, despite it technically being an international oversize letter service.  (Yes, internationally mailed items up to 2 kg can be considered oversized letters if they meet the dimension requirements.  It's a Universal Postal Union thang.)

@greenkanuk

Did you know that there is a bar code on the Small Packet form with a pseudo "tracking number"?

That number works for tracking when you mail Small Packet parcels to the US after the parcel goes through US Customs.

It may also work on parcels to the UK.

We have not had an opportunity to test it on a parcel to the UK.

Maybe someone else reading this has.

Trouble is, that number has to be copied at the time of mailing from the SP form that is attached to the parcel.  Get your cell phone out and take a picture of the shipping label attached by the Post Office.  Then use that number under the bar code for eBay tracking.

Some other posters had posted good information about this with examples a few months ago.

Apologies for misunderstanding your original post.  My reason for believing you used surface parcel is in my previous post.

Don't want to keep rubbing salt in your wounds, but I feel I have to make clear that your buyer--legitimately or not--has claimed that their item was not received.  They are not claiming that you didn't send out the item.  That's why proof that Canada Post accepted your small packet doesn't wash in your case.

And, really, what eBay is doing here is what any good seller would do.  If a buyer claims they didn't receive their item, the seller looks for online viewable proof of the buyer's claim.  If there's no evidence to suggest that the buyer did receive their item, the seller--being a good seller--will return the buyer's money and then file an insurance claim or dip into their cookie jar insurance/rainy day fund to mitigate their losses.

Hoping that you didn't pay nearly as much as $116 for this item so that you're only going to be out the shipping charge and the pittance you paid for the item.

I have not had the number work for the UK only the USA, however it does not hurt to try entering it when dealing with a non-delivery claim.

When using Shippo I download my labels to my computer as a PDF file before printing. I also rename the file (such as Shippo 2020-02-28a.pdf) and save on my drive and can view at it later date (no need to capture at time of shipping).

Hindsight:  Although Small Packet Int'l Air does not have Canada Post insurance,

Shippo does sell 3rd party insurance for a few dollars that would have protected you.

If you had bought the insurance, the label bought through Shippo and the postal mailing receipt is all that is needed for a claim.

...

Bigger issue:  Sale of Bvlgari Eau du Parfum 100ml/3.4 fl oz

Canada Post would regard this a Class 3 flammable liquid Dangerous Good and as such non-mailable matter. If discovered it will be destroyed.

https://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/PGnonmail-e.asp

UK customs also has restrictions on Dangerous Goods (such as flammable perfume) and usually want extra documentation. Risk of being destroyed.

Some sales are not worth having.

Success as a seller on eBay is based on knowing what not to do.

(1)  What not to sell

(2)What not to ship

(3) What shipping options should not be used.

(4) Do not offer shipping options with different prices.

(5) Do not ship without tracking

(6)  Do not ship without insurance.

and more.. and more.

What not to sell  is the most critical option to consider.

What is sold  and the character of buyers  of those items  is a major consideration of the problems one can encounter.

-----------------------------------------

How many here remember the seller in north central Ontario that sold items and shipped  using lettermail ? .....  Too many claims of not received....  What did he sell?

It was many, many years ago that Small packet with insurance (no tracking) was used to ship worldwide..  That was my choice.   Canada Post removed the insurance  option because of too many claims

Now I sell books, ship with insurance and tracking  for about 70 % of sales.... Lettermail/ letterpost. small packet to the US ....works because of the character of the people that buy my books.

I ship only to  Canada and US.....  shipping to other countries is too expensive for me to consider.....  and about 5 years ago tracking got misused, "not read" when shipping to Europe...

Success as a seller on eBay is based on knowing what not to do.

Apparently my post came right after the OP's post that indicated "sent to UK by CPC airmail small packet" that I had not seen.

Small Packet Air to International destinations has estimated delivery time of 6-10 business days according to Canada Post.

However, if package is subject to Customs inspection, that's an entirely different matter and delivery time may be affected and/or delayed.
