i have read that resetting one's store listings will help with getting seen its been 7 days and not a single email inquiry about items or sale since i lost my promo listing status-- is this so? about the relisting the whole account -- how does one go about that - does one just end all the listings - then relist them -- will this help or will there be more damage to the listings - its the end of the month and ebay will charge for my store account and i don't want to have use my visa again like last month from my bank account to pay ebay just so the listings sit there sit there again -- even a few sales would help get through the month charges -- help help help- - i have been running sales all week but that has not helped -- even run some items at near almost free still nothing - its the no emails inquirying about products let along the sales thats got me mystified -- i ussually get about 2/3 emails a weeks asking questions and such -- now nothing not one

so i reset my listings trying that and low and behold i got a couple of sales the same day -- could be just luck -- or maybe there is something about resetting ones listings -- - i also got the warning about improving my listings by oct20 or they would kick me out of the site or at least suspend for a certain length of time -- all over helping 6 customers get there money back sooner than later-- well it is what it is -- if its over its over i guess but i have till oct 20th to see if i can right the ship-- getting form 2.26 % defect to 1.99%-- starting with advice from a couple of better sellers here to ship to the usa -- maybe thats will help i hope so -- i worry about the fraud thats rampert there but i have nothing to lose -- so here we go i trying to rewrite 20/30 listings a day so getting through 2000 listings going to take time wish i could do more but my health prevents me from being at the computer more than a 1/2 hr at a time -- wish me luck-- i will let you know how it goes ----

i am sure that this reset of the listings has worked-- i just got two more sales yesterday - which means i have had more this week alone than in last two weeks - so i will reset about once a month as it was advised by a forum member from the usa who advised me to do this -- it seems to work -- going from 7 days straight no sales to 6 sales in two days -- now i just have to try to fix /check all my listings then get them to go the usa also as was advised by by someone here on canada forums -- still at about 20 fixed a day i tire very easy these days with my treatments- down to 2 - 1/2 hour sessions a day - then there is life to live outside ebay problems -- update this weekend

So, did you find out how to reset your store? If so, please advise how to do it, I've always wanted to know how.

Defects drop off after 12 months - to the day and likely to the second.

According to certain others...in the know...that was either a) a wisetale or b) just used to get someone off the phone.

Hi Lotz, I too have heard that calling CS and asking them to reset is just a way to get you off the phone and keep sellers happy. I was just curious how dobo did his resetting of his listings since he did ask but didn't really say how he did it.

the defect rate today this friday went from 2.22% down to 2.20%-- again a great move in right direction-- its a small move but i will take it-- hoping for more a downward trend may if i hope real hard by late next week -- now iknow am at the mercy of this site (not a great feeling) -- or well it will be close to the magic number of 1.99 % and return to full membership i will let you know on monday what happens next

A person a reseller that i conversed with in the states claims he resets his site every month and swears by it
by just ending all his sales usually 500 max listing at a time the relists them with one very tiny detail different in all of them like changing a shipping detail or a return policy detail or in the header changing the a $ sign -- word like the package word to the short form pkg. really not sure yet what is working exactly but something is working
went from 7 days no email no sales no inquiries nothing seemed to work ---to when after i did the reset-- i had sales more in one week than i ever had in a single week since i started here 2 years ago-- its going to save my month for sure and pay my storage locker and extraneous post office expenses(mail box) - for the month --
one added benefit from this banning of me in promo listings is my cost of sales went down to 20.5 % on ebay which then - with my other costs this month brings this month even just for the last 10 days of the month down to 42% total cost of sale will we see how long that lasts-- never been that low before

What we had heard in the past was this reset could be done by eBay. (Where the statement came from...To get people off the line by cs.) Like flipping a switch. Sounds like what is happening is you are going through the process and manually resetting your listings. I've done this on many occasions in smaller batches. For some reason doing so seems to bring a listing back to life and that what could be causing your uptick in sales. Hard to really know anymore what is used (besides high promotion rates) to get listings in eyes? The other benefit of doing this would be catching any flaws in a listing. Easy to miss something, if one went too fast.

i totally agree with you hard to know what works what doesn't - just hoping that my sales keep up for a while till they turn that faucet off again on me ---i believe now--- its randam thing maybe the resetting of my listings worked maybe it didn't -- its just that always now-- all my sales come in custers--- in a rush then nothing just crickets for days on end -- then iam lucky a rush again its too randam they way it works to be anything other they switch a knob on you let me have sales then in then turn it off just a fast --- maybe there is only so much bandwidth of sales they have and then they make spread around--- when i ask customers why they purchased the item when they did they always say they just saw it last night or this week etc etc like it was a new listing -- when its been on the site for 12 months or more in some cases -- just strange how it works --

I also make small changes to my listings and re-list items that seem to have little activity. I often switch my photos around, I have found that sometimes has helped. There is in the search criteria (should someone choose it) "Newly listed", so ending an item then listing it again a little different might make that show for the people who keep their eyes out for "new listings" thinking they find something before anyone else sees it.
I do a lot of auctions and I know if they end and I just do a straight "re-list" they seem to die off, but my new stuff usually gets more views, questions and watchers than just plain re-lists.
It should be noted I don't have a large amount of listings (rarely go above 40) so it is easier for me to do this than some of the big sellers that have tons of items at any given time. That would take a long time to do manually but I know (from my experience) that even changing a few might get someone looking at one who then uses "see seller's other items" and ends up buying one of the older items. How often do we go to a store and buy something we didn't actually plan on buying because we were looking at something else!

I've heard people suggest ending 1% of your listings every day and sell similar on them (with a minor change somewhere). This gives you a new listing boost, a google ads boost (I think), and probably an eBay algorithm boost since I believe activity is a major factor in sales. I haven't been doing this myself, but I've been thinking about it.

It is my belief that "new" stuff generates the impression of goodnes to the search algorithm which increases views traffic.
It appears that regularly adding new items will cause this (what % or "size" against ones inventory I don't know). I would guess that ending and relisting 1% or whatever accomplishes the same thing.
Ending ALL items and relisting them would cause a "burst" of new items (aka goodness) to the search algorithm.
"Time away" (aka vacation) with hidden listings causes the same burst when the store is reopened, or at least it does with me.

I remember, many years ago, when I used to close my stores on a Friday night and reopen them on Saturday morning. This was "supposed" to help cause this burst and make your listings more visible. Can't remember if it actually helped though, too long ago.
Edit: just remembered, it wasn't the stores I closed and reopened, it was the RSS Feed. Don't think we have that on eBay any more anyway.

Sort your active listing by time left to get the ending soonest ones first. Select and end the ones you want, then click on the 'ended' dropdown in the 'listings' tab. This brings up those ended listings. Select all then 'relist as fixed price' (they are fixed price already). You can then bulk edit them, then relist. I just did 200 listings. I added today's date to the end of all listings with the bulk edit opion, very easy to do. Interesting to see if it makes a difference. Foot-note: It was faster to do all the above relisting than it was to write this paragraph.
