how many people on ebay.ca would actually prefer COD?

Did you have any sales that way? How much did you save in fees or is it about the same?

by the way for anyone that doesn't know. COD is Cash on Delivery.

Are you making a solid income on Kijiji? If you are, then I'd suggest you stick to Kijiji. If you weren't making enough money on Kijiji by "flipping stuff" then eBay would be even more difficult for you to learn to use.

So far it sounds like you haven't got the slightest clue on all the helpful advices you have already been given. Figuring out how to use eBay is not as easy as just asking questions on these broads. You need to do your own actual research on how much your "stuff" are currently selling on eBay by other sellers (so that you know whether or not you can offer competitive prices), actually read Canada Post's website, and figure out if it's worthwhile at all. eBay items can sit around for months and years before they find the right buyer. COD will just add to your cost, making you even LESS competitive.

Another super important thing to learn about is eBay's buyer protection program, which isn't on Kijiji. Buyers can return things not as described and you'd need to be ready to fork out money (shipping, which you already found to be expensive) to the buyer to return the item.

And telling people that you're "flipping stuff" is not helpful at all. They can't even give you proper advices on how to ship and how to calculate shipping... "stuff". Shipping a book versus toy car versus furniture versus electronics are all different.

If you're not ready to invest time and energy to learn how to be a seller on eBay properly and to develop an actual plan, then I highly suggest you stick to Kijiji.

While free advices are "free", the advices you have been given were all excellent advices. Now it's time for you to invest some effort on your own instead of questioning other reputable sellers here. Otherwise you're not gonna get anywhere here on eBay.

Ok I can make it more specific if it helps. Its mostly books and toys and necklaces I make and left over beads that could possibly be useful for someone else. And a few tools and mice and keyboards whenever I can afford them at buying time. Does that help any? Thanks

As a brand new seller, it'd be difficult to sell them for a profitable price on eBay as there are many, many competitions. Have you tried using the search function on the top of the screen to see how many books, necklaces, and beads listings there are? Are what you're selling unique enough that would make buyers buy from you instead of from other established sellers who have an actual business plan and have been selling for years?

Same goes for tools, mice and keyboards (try using the search function up top to see if you find the ones you have), as they are expensive to ship so unless it's a very specific brand or very unique and rare, buyers are unlikely to pay $10+ shipping to buy it off you versus from established places like Bestbuy and Amazon, which offers free shipping and free returns.

As for necklaces you made yourself, Esty is probably the better place for them but it costs money to list there. Again, if you were only mildly successful on Facebook, and not so much on Kijiji, then I don't think selling on eBay is quite for you.

The thing with buying local to flip them online, you need to know the shipping cost ahead of time, add that shipping cost to the cost of buying local, to see if it's actual profitable to sell them online. Of course, there are other sellers here who also buy local and sell online for profit, but they know their items very well and they have a solid plan and an established selling status. Acquiring the knowledge you need to be able to sell online, would be what you need to work on.

Keep in mind that you're the one asking for help, we have no obligations to help you, so don't take getting free help on an online forum for granted. You're not helping us by making the info you provide specific; you're helping *yourself*. To further help yourself, step back from the discussion board, do some research and reading as you've already been suggested, and come back to ask questions again after that.

For sure COD will not work here...it is just not how eBay works. Plus if the buyer did not pick up the item you would be out shipping plus return costs.
