I'm finding it hard to get back to selling after a long hiatus. I'm Canadian. At first I thought I had listed to sell in both U.S. and Canada but a fellow in Canada found he couldn't pay. We fiddled around for hours and now find our listings seem to register to sell just in Canadian money or the listing shows an asking price of both Canadian and U.S. funds but I'm not getting bids - I haven't for a week or two now. Now I acknowledge my items might not be of interest to anyone, but somehow I feel U.S. people don't like to bid on things with both a Canadian and U.S. price on them. I'd like to get back to just selling to the U.S. but can't figure out how.

I took a look at the 2 listings you currently have up and you only have shipping available for Canada.
If you list on ebay.com an America buyer would only see US$ for the price.
If you list on ebay.ca (and have shipping for the USA) the american buyer would see the price in US$/Cdn$
Listing on ebay.com
Domestic shipping rate is for the USA. Flat rate generic choice like "Economy shipping from Canada"
Canada shipping would be in the International section. You would have to use one of the flat rate generic shipping choices like "Economy International Shipping"
Listing on ebay.ca
You would have the option for calculated shipping (but that requires knowing approximate weight and size of box).

You currently have 1 listing on .ca and 3 on .com. The .ca listing ships only to Canada and the US listing ships only to the US. If you prefer to list on .com then you have to use a flat rate shipping rate to the US (which you have done) and then a 'international' flat rate shipping rate to Canada. You would have to specify one of the generic 'service' to Canada such as economy, standard or expedited international shipping and then enter a rate. If you want to list on .ca in Canadian dollars you would do the opposite as Canada would be domestic and the US would be international.
One advantage to listing on .ca is that you can use calculated shipping which is definitely a benefit for heavier items. I have no idea how big or how heavy the Volvo water pump is that you have listed on .ca but right now you are charging a shipping rate of $45 to buyers whether they are in Ontario or BC. It seems high to me in Alberta so I would guess that someone in your province would really think that it a lot to pay for shipping.
Keep in mind that when you look at a listing, you are seeing it as a Canadian. If you look at your current listings on .com you will see the $C conversion as well as the US$ cost. Americans will only see the $US price. To see what they see, go to your listing and in the shipping tab change your location to the US and click on see rates.

You're charging too much for shipping in my opinion. I've never had to pay that high of cost to ship aything within canada (40$) even 22$ is high end. Also what youre selling is very niche. Mostly old people buy plates and collect stuff like that which is also the demographic that uses the internet the least. Plus USA buyers often have to pay import charges which lowers Canadians ability to compete in the USA and Vice Versa.
