it looks like i going to lose my prime selling status again this sept 20th - i increased sales but it seems not enough to make that **bleep** 2.07 defect rate change - all over again as last time helping a customer out -
driving my defects to 6 over the last year or so --- - i hope its not as bad as last time i got a defect notice last year and for 6 months i had no promo offers to help and they reduced my selling amount from at that time 1699 listing to 749 listings -- i have now about 2100 listings with about 150 more to list - i have a store account now so i hope that helps -i hope they don't cut me in half again like last time the promo listing thing i can live without for a time - but they seem to cut all my good listings - and i appealed but that didn't help-- their answer was just sell more and do a better job - hope things work out -- i will keep you posted as to what happens on the 21st

- but they seem to cut all my good listings -
Do you mean they CLOSED your listings instead of just charging you 30c each for them?
Or did they move them to your Unsold List without giving you a choice of which to close down?
A Basic Store , for $25 a month, only gives you 1000 "free " listings PLUS another 1000 if you sell those on dotCOM.
After that you will be paying 20c each for any extra listings.
A Premium Store gives you 10000 listings, and again double that by listing on both sites.

i have a premium store right now and yes they moved about 150 to 160 listings a day to unsold list and when i tried to relist them they refused -- that was when i had no premium store so after the first incident i went and got the store - hoping it would help -- - we will see what they do to me on this tuesday -- hoping for the better

TODAY IS THE DAY the 20th doom day for me -- its 11.30 am so far nothing has changed -- maybe it will late tonight when iam in bed and can't see gremlins working on me ha ha -- will let you know if anything changes
at least i had a descent week last week -- it will help pay the storage locker's rent and post office box fees
09-20-2022 03:21 PM
That will add another 6% fee onto your fees so the rough fees per sold item will be 20%.

well its sept 21 and the hammer has been let down -- on the sept 19 my defect rate was 2.07 now its 2.27 with no new incidents - and more sales this week than i had i a long while ---- i just don't understand -- it should have gone down not up --does anyone have a answer -- i have now lost promo listings -- so my sales will drop thats for sure --have not had my listings numbers reduced yet but the day isn't over yet --- my sales are still running - we will see how long that lasts -- and your right they added a another 6 % of cost to my last sale --
****my god they make it hard to stay in business here -- and i worked very hard to improve sales these last couple of weeks -- nothing works they as i have said increased my defect from 2.07 to 2.27 ??? over one day
while hoping to reactivate my other site e-bxx maybe i can get some sales out of that site till this one comes back - i wonder how long it will last -- last time it was 6 months -- hoping it will be less
*********any suggestions would be helpful to get through this again*****

does anyone have a formula for me to follow ?? if i have 2.27 % defects on 6 incidents -- on 290 successful sales ---- how more sales do i have to get before that 2.27 drops below 2%-- iam a very old guy and math was never a strong point -- i just can't figure out how many more sales i have to do to get to make it acceptable to ebay to reduce it to under 2 %

Hi! As recped pointed out knowing that number won't help because it will change each day as items from a year ago roll off the count. That is probably what happened to raise the % to 2.7, more sold this time last year than sold this year same time so the relative % of "good" sales dropped against the problem ones.
All you can really do is try to move as much as safely as possible now (ie avoiding more defects)....
PS mathematically 6 incidents on 290 sales is 2.1% so the 2.7% is coming from different numbers, if the incidents is 6 that's going against only 222 sales, is it actually 2.7% or is it 2.07%?

well the defect rate went from 2.07% to 2.27 % in one day all the defects are out of stock items relisting items by my mistake 3/4 items and some are ebay fault2/3 really can't tell which ---- they relisted items that i didn't relist---- customers are happy with my service and ordered other items but the fact i refunded them for these reasons is where i got into hot water all of the dings are 2 to 6 months ago one ding about a month - - the rate the graph shows me is 6 dings for 290 sales - so i don't know the math facts -- i have no returns no complaints- just these 6 dings from refunding customers - i know its suck it up time and just like the last time a year ago my sales will go to nothing and i will suffer because of this -- hoping my sales promo i am running will boost something -- but it is what it is i guess - thanks for the time you spent answering me

As I understand it the numbers they're showing you are as of the last report (thats why it changed so much in one day that's the reporting day, reflecting the last months changes), the current numbers will be different, and they change by day, so it is hard to know.
I see I somehow turned 2.27% into 2.7% in my earlier response.
2.27% is 6 defects out of 264ish
The good news is that it doesn't look like there's an additional defect 7 out of 290ish is 2.4%
It is more likely that a number of good ones rolled off during the so far unreported portion of this reporting period (if that makes any sense!)

well that extra 6% hasn't kicked in yet - but i know it will --- i just got with a lot of work on my part got my total expenses to sell to just under 44 % cost of sales total - ebay fees & canada post fees- together and outside cost included - so with this extra 6% it will be back at 50 % again -- got a few ideas to squeeze an little extra out - maybe i can get it down to 48 % when all the mess hits the fan -- i will save on the promo listing charges which where 4% to 7 % depending on the item - so maybe from a cost viewpoint that extra 6% will get washed out by my not paying the 4 to 7 % promo listing cost maybe??????
just less sales without promo listings --
good thing my poker playing has improved as of late and a little money is coming in there not much but a little ( more beer money than anything but then i don't have to raid my piggy bank anymore for entry fees )

its friday morning and well the boom has been lowered i guess --no sales at all since monday --views are up -- which is good as i said before -- i am running now 7 seven different sales on different products some of cartridges are selling way way before cost- but nothing so far i run a couple more this weekend when i list the last of my steel cased outside gfci units and pvc bidet and chrome steel bidets -- then i guess i will just revolve a couple sales on monday - to other products maybe using this scatter gun approach some thing will stick ----oh by the way the defect rate drop from 2.27 yesterday to 2.26 % today at this rate i might be back in busness by october 20th or so if it keeps up to going in the right direction to 1.99%
i do have a question when this is over will the promo rate on each item go back to their orginal rate 4%-7% as each item was different or will i have to go back to each item and reset the promo rate ??? back to their orginal asking rate
09-23-2022 12:50 PM
If you are taking about the promotional percentages you set, those rates continue at the rate you set, until the item sells or you change the rate or you end the promotion.
09-24-2022 10:45 AM
thanks for that info -- but my question was different i was talking about my promo listing rates which where between 4-7 % when my promo listing were cancelled by ebay because of my 6 defects -- will when i get back in their good graces and returned to less than 1.99% defect rate -- will my old promo rates go back to where they were --or do i have to redo all 2000 listings-- i have individually since all the rates were different ? thats the question iam looking to have answered -- - since i was ousted from promo listing -- i have had no sales --- so 5 days in row no sales - not even inquiring emails about products that i used to get daily-- so no sale activity -- at all -- for 5 days -- yet my looks are still high -- that makes me wonder -- what those looks are about -- are they real ???if i have over 100000 looks wouldn't someone of those at least ask me a question about a product etc. let alone a sale
well today i added four more sales to the list -- faucets/solder/and security lighting units &air compressor connectors -- maybe some will sell -- maybe not -- i will try a couple more sales on monday different items --

I have a suggestion regarding your promotions, for efficiency sake. Create whatever number of campaigns makes sense, you can group them by type of material you are selling or the type of margins you have.
For example:
Faucets
Fittings
Pokemon
Circuit Breakers
Electrical
etc
Then when you list the items put them into the correct campaign.
Then you can en-masse make ALL the items in that campaign the same % promotion rate, with one change.
This is what I do, except I do it by "age" the older listings have a higher promoted rate than the newest as an example. This way I can change the campaigns promoted % en masse but they all end up being the same rate when you do that. You can change them individually within a campaign if you wish afterward.
PS I don't know the answer to your question, I would assume they would keep the same rate they had when closed but that is just a guess.

I stumbled upon something that may help you today. Under "Performance -> Seller Level" there's a link to show monthly breakdown. This will show you the number of defects and transactions that you've had monthly for the past year. That will help you figure out how many sales and defects will drop off. I think it goes by calendar month rather than evaluation period but I'm not positive.

as a update sunday oct 2 -- my defect went down to 2.15% this again is an improvement only .16 to go -- and my eBay costs went down 3 % so now i have total cost rate of sale at 42% which for me is good with postal rates being what they are -- hoping this continues into next week and maybe a 2.10 defect rate would be to thrive for --- running all new sales this week and increasing my sales listings including the USA up to about 9 % of listings so far
wish me luck
