Does anyone know what happens to Tr Pkt USA rates on January 1, 2024?
Will eBay Canada sellers lose the only competitive shipping feature ever?
Merry Christmas!
Current eBay Promo ending Dec 31
["For a limited time, save up to 61% on Canada Post Tracked Packet™– USA
US buyers are accustomed to and expect tracked shipping for their online purchases - even lower-value ones. Anyway, my question is what happens if a buyer purchases the item (and pays) on Dec 31 and you don't print out the label until Jan 1? I'm assuming your actual postage charge will be back to the older/higher rate. I've made a big sticky note on the computer to check sales Sunday night (Dec 31) or maybe I should change back from the discounted rates on Dec 30th?
This is a good point! I think I will make sure mine are changed even earlier just in case someone takes a couple of days to pay. I would think if label is purchased after Dec. 31 it would be at the higher amount regardless of when the sale was made.
Those kinds of discrepancies probably happen all the time when any time the fuel charge is adjusted and then any tax is applied or even when a scheduled price increase suddenly kicks in. As sellers we never really know it's been changed. In majority of these situations the final cost would go up....almost never down.

Maybe discounted rates could became a store subscription feature?

shipping costs are a challenge to all Canadian sellers whether they operate from an eBay store or not...store subscribers already get discounted FVF's...so let's NOT make this shipping discount promo about eBay store subscriptions..shipping discounts need to benefit ALL Canadian sellers...
anyway, not really sure how eBay could work out a deal with Canada Post that would be restricted to store subscribers only...Perks for eBay store subscribers are those as provided and allotted by eBay.

Your point of view would have clarity if your account wasn't ghosted. I don't know if you have a store or not. I don't know if your items are US marketed using TrPkt. Don't even know if you're a seller affected by the rates.
Granted its your choice to conceal your show but it makes it hard to understand where your coming from.

Important Message To Canadian Clothing Sellers Listing On dot ca shipping with eBay labels to the USA; Be sure to read thru to the bottom..
I got this message this morning:
"I would love to buy this jacket now [$85] and will pay for shipping! I live in the US in miami florida, could you allow it to ship here. Once again i’ll be sure to pay for shipping. Thank you!!"
Huh? I ship half my stuff to Florida. Why am I getting this? I check the listing...Shipping set to Tr Pk USA. Sure enuf buyer sees "Contact seller to see if they ship to you"
Check dimensions... Package is 1.4kg 45 x 29x 17. Hmmm... 45 plus 29 plus 17 is ....scratch head... 91 cms.
{Krapp}. Change to Expedited. Now Buyer sees "Shipping $47." {Krapp}. Msg buyer.
Get new box 41 x 40 x 8. Now I'm under the Tr Pk 90 cm barrier with 89 cms. Revise listing .... Shipping to Florida now $20.79 (with the current eBay label cost price)
Msgd buyer with the good news.... (Time Lapse=1 hour)
Dead air...
It caused me to think about Canadian clothing sellers everywhere above the 49th parallel who cannot take the advice of eBay For Business who promote "Canadian sellers who can should use dotcom". Jeepers creepers.. Good Griff...grief I mean...burns my bhut... 😞
{We're Psycruhwed ;.}
We can forget about the US market if we lose this discount on December 31.
PS. While writing this post I got another msg from her.
"Perfect will purchase it tonight!! Thank you"

Have no idea what you are referencing......I am never logged into .COM because I am NOT a seller on.COM
Have been a seller on eBay for 20 years and my account is just fine...haven't had a store on eBay for over 15 years and yes I sell items on eBay as a casual seller(currently nothing listed), and I ship within Canada & to the USA only; and yes indeed I use Tracked Packet for shipping to the USA...
anything else troubling you about my eligibility and/or qualifications that you seem to think are lacking for me to "be allowed" to discuss or comment on this topic??

You can write to the Minister, and expect a reply that Canada Post as a Crown Corp is independent, yada yada,
Yeah.
Before retiring I was the one who wrote those letters. Not for Canada Post, latterly with Aboriginal (Indian) Affairs, but it is interesting to see how many eyes see those letters before they are actually signed.

"Have no idea what you are referencing......"
You have blocked the forum from viewing your listings, your store, ( if you have one), and what ever it is you sell (if you sell).
Please correct me if I'm wrong. The attached photo is what the forum sees selecting "View Listings" on your ghosted account. It's fine with me. Lots seem to conceal their seller accounts on this forum.
I don't agree with that for the above reasons.
Obviously you use the "view listings" feature for your own purpose so why don't you tell me why I can't look at what is is that gives any weight to your opinion on my post? This is your own comment my friend.
"Items listed by the OP ARE NOT "documents" or Letter and have some good value which REQUIRES customs declaration...and I'd question the risk involved when sending such materials to USA and/or International destinations as "lettermail".

I have done nothing to "block" anything/anyone on the .CA. eBay forums...in fact I have never even looked at my .CA community status since I joined the community in 2008 so whatever it is was set/re-set by ebay not me...have never checked, never had any need to do so and know nothing further...so...... If you can't view that is not my doing and not my problem...

@mrdutch1001 I clicked on view listings and I can see everything running at the moment which is as you noted zero auctions and you don't have a store. If I click "sold items" I see the last few things you sold, so nothings being hidden.

Checked again. This is still all that shows up for me. You must have "magic mouse fingers". @ricarmic @mrdutch1001

Tried that. Didn't work. Tried changing delivery locations from USA to domestic, tried adjusting filters, tried entering a couple common search items. No "Active Listings" show. (14 year veteran). You are coming up...
I must be doing it wrong... wink wink nudge nudge
like she said

@intimewithmusic Note that as they noted, there aren't any live items running at this time, so searches for live items won't return any results.
Note too that there is a bug that's been there for a while where a keyword search for "sold" items actually returns only "live" items. One has to then click the "sold items" button in the search results to actually see the sold items for that keyword search. I hope they fix that soon, it makes my relisting process more complicated and time consuming.
What I do when I want to see if a vendor is still "live" and has no items running (could be on vacation etc) I check their sold items, it shows anything sold in the last 90 days.
For this situation, I see sold items within the last 90 days. I sent you a PM with the link to it.

Hi.
Thank you for your input and for your clarification. That is important. I think it's safe to say our forum "View Listings" link helps everyone to help everyone. The forum wouldn't exist without it. It's a "You show me yours and I'll show you mine." If you or others never use poster's " View Listings" I welcome your debate.
For some reason, a great many and not just a few posts on this forum are from people who are not active sellers or are from active sellers who somehow conceal their listings with an alternate profile. AKA . "You show me yours but I'm remaining anonymous".
They have no listings or else they have listings but choose to use a different handle to hide their listings from the forum. You can't see what they sell or have sold. You can't figure out where they are coming from. The poster remains completely anonymous unless other forum members are familiar with who they are. The Secret Society. Maybe it's just me. I find that somewhat creepy.
"This forum's "View Listing" feature is integral to open honest communication. Our selling environment changes so fast help with listings are the only reason we need to be here.
Show me your listings and I'll show you mine.
If you are a veteran and still helping us you are the ones that deserve special consideration! Thank you.
For the rest of you who list on eBay dot ca yes, you can add videos to your listings as you can see in my listing I'm sharing with all of you.

Hi @mrdutch1001
Good question.
With respect to the topic at hand... we physcrewhed... We're sending packages under the discount that are possibly returned in January at our expense sans discount.
You would think by now eBay would at least take down "New Reduced Rates On Southbound" etc etc
But Noooo , They are still rubbing salt in the wounds. Ughh. I hate to lose my "TRS". 100% for 10 years without it but the "Limited Time Promo" clinched it for me. Never had a FVF discount before.
At least I know what it felt like.
Best wishes.

I hope that's good thing!
The link on the right hand side of this page still says it ends Dec 31 though.
We can only hope. I wonder if Canada Post has flat rate boxes to the US?
12-07-2023 12:53 PM
No.
Canada Post would have to coordinate their own Flat Rate boxes with USPS Flat Rate boxes.
And remember that we only ship directly to the USA, or anywhere, because of the Universal Postal Union, which coordinates international postal systems.
And part of that is that every postal system is paying every other postal system to deliver the mail which was paid for in the origination country.
Which is why China, when it was still paying as a "developing" country although it was the world's second largest economy, was able to ship so cheaply to the West. (That stopped after UPU members basically put Chinese mail on a "work to order" basis until they agreed to pay more.)
Another problem would be that the USPS still has Trump appointee DeJoy as Postmaster General, a guy who detests the public postal system and has strong investments in private couriers. Most of the Board are also still Trump appointees. So there would not be much encouragement from the top.
But I agree, having a USPS/Canada Post series of Flat Rate Boxes would really encourage cross-border small business shipping.
