Hi all. I am new to eBay and looking for some advice. An auction of mine just ended and the winner who is listed as being an eBay member in the US has a shipping address in Abu Dhabi. Should I be concerned? Also, in my listing the two options with costs for shipping were only for within Canada and the US. Buyer paid the US shipping cost but I'm pretty sure it will cost more to ship to the UE. Any advice will be helpful, Thanks in advance.

Your shipping exclusions on your listings are only Excludes: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Kuwait, Macedonia. That means the rest of the world can bid on your auctions even though you only specify Canada and the United States.

You need to set your shipping exclusions for everything except Canada and the United States.

Go to Account Settings, click on Site Preferences, click on Shipping Preferences and go to Exclude Shipping Locations. Check off everything except Canada, United States.

Make sure you check the box for: Also apply to current listings.

This will block off the rest of the world from bidding on your auctions. Any item you revise will default back to your prevoius excluded list so you will have to go through the same steps....

I wouldn't ship your item without tracking because the buyer in Abu Dhabi will file a item not received claim (INR). I'm assuming the buyer purchased the Louis Vuitton Mens Silk Tie, CuffLinks and Handkerchief New! for 104.50.

Since shipping with tracking will be expensive (if Canada Post will even ship to Abu Dhabi during Covid-19). I would cancel the auction using "problem with address". But doing this could warrent negative feedback from the buyer.

Sellers can cancel pretty easily using "problem with address".

Unless you have a US address to ship to, you do not have to use the rate for shipping to the USA.

Look up the real cost of tracked, air mail shipping to AbuDhabi. Go for ExpressPost at the least.

Give that cost to the buyer. It's going to be an easy $50-$60 - possibly double that. Don't forget Signature Confirmation!

"Thank you for your purchase. I notice you have paid for shipping to the USA but gave an overseas address. Please give me your US address and I will be able to get your Vuitton set in the mail on Monday, March first. If you do want the purchase sent to AbuDhabi, the shipping cost would be $110.00Cdn. "

If he objects, send the message again.

If he still objects, cancel as "problem with address".

Thanks for the information. As being new here I would hate to have any negative feedback but I get the feeling that it may be worth it in this case.

Thanks, this was helpful. I get the feeling that no good can come from this transaction, is it unethical to charge an extremely inflated shipping cost in hopes they decline? If they agree to any cost I charge that would give me more reason to believe that I would somehow get stuck refunding the buyer and losing my product!

Unless they have a US or Canadian address they won't be able to pay since you don't have a shipping cost to that country. You can wait 4 days after the purchase and open an unpaid item claim and then close it 4 days later. Or a faster solution would be to send a message saying that you only ship to the US and Canada ask if they have a shipping address here and if not, would they like you to cancel the purchase. If they do say to cancel then use the reason problem with address.

I see you updated your excluded shipping locations list. Please remember any newly listed item or current items you revise will automatically default back to your prevoius excluded list so you will have to go through the same steps everytime....
