has anyone successfully found a way to create a shipping label using ebay rates without an order - IE shipping calculator? what good is a shipping platform without a calculator???

shippo's response was to create an order - but this requires an active carrier and u cant get ebay shippo rates if there is no ebay order

No, I haven't tried to set up a label for a non ebay order and I'm not sure how to do so. I'm not clear on what you are asking though. Are you asking about a calculator because you want to know how much shipping will be if you are not going through ebay?

It might be quicker to go through snapship. You'll get your Canada Post small business discount there.

Not sure what you want. The eBay extra discount is only available for eBay orders. And that extra discount is only available for Expedited Parcel (Canada), Tracked Packet (USA) and Expedited Parcel (USA). Everything else will match your Solutions for Small Business membership rate.

On Shippo you can go through the steps of creating another label for an existing order and then abandon the creation when you reach the rates page. But that only works for existing countries that you have sold to.

If signed into your Solutions for Small Business account you will see your level of savings. If you are not signed in you will see the over-the-counter rate which the eBay.CA calculated shipping should show for your listing. You can also see the SfSB level 1 discounted rates if you select "Show minimum online savings" on page 2.

eBay/Shippo has the best discounted rate. PayPal is the same as Canada Post.

Examples (ON to WA state using Jan/2018 fuel surcharge rate, SfSB level 1):

100g - Shippo: $11.96, PayPal or CPC online: $13.22, Over-the-counter: $14.04

250g - Shippo: $15.25, PayPal or CPC online: $16.86, Over-the-counter: $17.90

500g - Shippo: $16.44, PayPal or CPC online: $18.17, Over-the-counter: $19.38

1.0kg - Shippo: $18.73, PayPal or CPC online: $20.69, Over-the-counter: $22.03

So SfSB level 1 is about 6% off counter rate and eBay's extra discount is another 9.5% off SfSB.

I said this elsewhere today, but it's worth repeating.

Tell the customer the Canada Post rate

It's none of your customer's business how much you pay for the products you sell, for the fees you pay, or for the postage you buy.

It's Shipping and HANDLING.

That includes your costs for packaging (bubble wrap ain't free), labour (at 18 cents a minute, the BC minimum wage), & self-insurance (which covers problems third party insurance doesn't).

It's fast. It's easy. It will match the Calculated Shipping rate the customer would get if you had opted for that.

Which in fact would be the easiest way out.

Use Calculated rather than Flat Rate shipping.

She'll see the rate to her doorstep.

And for a non-eBay order you get the SnapShip rate (which is the one you get with your Small Business Solutions card at the PO counter).

But again, your discount, if any is none of your customer's business.

thanks for all the info about.thats a lot of work for a simple shipping question. dont know what you do but you certainly have the time to respond fully. Unfortunately it is NOT the info i was looking for:
sometimes i get a request/question on shipping ON EBAY for an Ebay order for shipping to australia or europe BEFORE A BUYER COMMITS TO PURCHASE and shippo doesnt offer a shipping calculator option so i will continue to do what i have been doing - using cpc rates on their website 😞

I pay attention to shipping, and copy and paste is easy to do.

Using the Canada Post calculator is precisely what you should doing if you want to give an international buyer a shipping cost. The eBay rate through Shippo will be the same as the one seen when you select the Canada Post minimum online savings button.

The only time rates will be different are for Canada (Expedited Parcel), and the USA (Tracked Packet, Expedited Parcel).

Shippo only has access to shipping info for your eBay sales, they do not see your unsold eBay listings.

Oh I forgot, if there is delay between you giving a cost and a buyer purchasing, the rate may be different because of the fuel surcharge that some parcels service have -- Canada Post adjusts that once a month based on fuel cost indexes.

Choose the service that meets your standards for security and speed and quote that to the customer.

You only need the country you will be shipping to.

By the way, if you are using Calculated Shipping, you can choose Europe and Australia (among other choices) on the Sell Your Item form under International Shipping-> Choose Custom Location, and your customers will see the cost of shipping to their doorsteps without asking you.
