Important: Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases have generated record parcel volumes this week. We're working hard to get these items out for delivery and have devoted extra resources to do so. We also continue to deliver on weekends. We apologize to anyone who experiences a delay.

My wee rural PO's updates are more often than not, for a long time, not showing for hours after they've been scanned at the PO.
The thing that worries me is that I put the tracking number on the item when I'm marking them as shipped and if the buyer checks before they're updated, they'll think there's a problem or I'm lying about the number....
Having said this so far nobody has contacted me nor asked questions so maybe I'm over worrying.... however I do like to check on the tracking to make sure I haven't typo'd the tracking number but most days it is pointless as I get this exact message (except the top highlighted portion)......

I think I have the opposite problem with my outbounds. They seem to show up as Accepted at the Post Office right promptly own tracking but, having printed them online through paypal shipping, the Electronic Information Submit By Shipper line seems to take as long as 24 hours to appear at peak times which makes it look (to an inexperienced eye) that I have dragged my feet on providing some key information to Canada Post.

Canada Post has not set up a table that shows the last day for delivery of parcels to many destinations in time for Christmas.
This could be a very interesting year for Canada Post.... as parcel volume over Christmas has been increasing dramatically over the last few years....
Christmas parcels together with internet sales will really put Canada Post's mail system to a test

I posted a thread about the CPC Holiday schedule in the fall, you replied to it.

Canada Post should have seen this coming MILES away. Instead, we have places like Shoppers Drug Mart REDUCING shipping staff. Whereas you often would see 2 people working at their in-store outlets, now you see only one.

I just found out that Canada Post is picking up packages from the local Shoppers Drug store on Saturdays and Sundays for this busy season.
Does anyone know if they are also picking up mail from the red boxes on the streets?

It will depend on your area, but I know in my city that red box pickup and Shoppers pickup are two separate vehicles (even if the red box is in the same mall). My best guess would be no.
And the other reason is they are also dropping off parcels at the same time, which they don't do for red boxes.

At the postal outlet that I go to the same person who empties the box outside also picks up the mail in the outlet inside but my guess is that won't be happening on the weekends. I know that someone does pick up mail at the outlet on Saturdays this time of year but I remember that on Mondays last year the outside box was crammed so full that i almost had to shake it so that the door would close lol.

It looks like my appreciation for CP and the extra work done on the weekends is now gone. That's because I just learned how they are able to have all those employees working overtime on the weekend. They have STOPPED picking up from the red boxes on the streets!
You might ask how I know this. I have rigged the bottom door so that I can tell if it's been opened since my last visit. And I can say with absolute certainty that the box at the end of my street has not been emptied since at least Monday morning.
Brace yourselves for defects and INRs in about 3 weeks.

Well they are doing some things right! A parcel shipped expedited from my rural PO to my DD in very rural Alberta usually takes at least 8 business days. I sent it on Friday and it arrived at her post office for pickup yesterday (Wednesday).

Lettermail shipped (post-marked December 3) to me, from Peterborough Ontario, arrived here in Toronto (about 140 km) on Dec 13.

I am having way more problems with items mailed in November. At this moment I have these "where is my package" situations:
Mailed November 2 to Australia
Mailed November 14 to Toronto (which is 2 hours down the road from me)
Mailed November 17 to USA (California)
(All 3 were mailed in a 6 x 9 white bubble envelope)
It is not uncommon for stuff to California to take 3 weeks or more.
I think the Toronto one is a gonner, has been a long time since I've lost anything Canadian
Australia, one never knows, the buyer has been great so time will tell.

For me November was a problem too. I mailed one to spain on Nov 2/16, never showed up refunded, blocked Spain. Mailed 2 to Australia on Nov 21 still haven't shown up. Australia is a real problem for me, every month I have a few buyers from there and because the mail is so slow and their mail system is a mess, I may just have to block them until further notice.
