Canada Post - Making this claim difficult

So I shipped out a toner cartridge to the US months ago, it never arrived according to the tracking and the customer.

I call CP, tell them and they start off the claim, they ask for proof of sale, so I show them the eBay ID. Now what happened was after the sale I had an additional toner available so the customer added $80 to their paypal transaction ontop of the $89.69. So the total for two toner's were $169.69.

Now the CP customer service said they needed proof of purchase.

How do people deal with this situiation. I mean first of all I didn't purchase the item, it was on consignment. Second of all what if you don't have proof or you sold goods that were hand made.

Is it true they will only refund the cost of the items "i purchased for" instead of the sale price?

For those of you that have done numerous Canada Post Claims, how does the process work for you? Is it the same for business/personal?

Thanks,

Bulut

Hi Bulut, I've filed several claims over the past 6 years, and while they used to ask what I paid for it, now they want to know what the buyer paid for it. Can you go to your paypal account and print out a copy of the amount paid by your buyer from there. There is data from the last year there at least--you just have to access your history and go to the date of the payment. That would prove that you received that amount from the purchaser, even if it wasn't 100% through ebay. That should satisfy them as to value, although I don't know if you can email the copy of the payment to them, you could print it and snail mail it or fax to them if necessary. Gloria

It their "tactics", make it as difficult as possible and hope the claim goes away.

Just keep pounding away at them and don't give up. Probably not what you want to hear but CP insurance is as bad or worse than any other insurance. It's there to make you feel good until you have a claim at which point the intention is to make you feel as bad as possible. The long range plan seems to be to discourage claims from the get go.

Gloria,

I have probably given them a more detailed report that should have been marked by my highschool teacher.

I saved the papyal transaction in PDF and sent it and they still required it. I'm going to call them back again. This is just driving me nuts.

Any company that wants to give out money makes it really difficult. CP so frustrating
