Are you people in a position to do anything about an out of date ebay page?

This page is supposed to contain links to all of the eBay sites worldwide.

http://pages.ebay.com/aboutebay/thecompany/companyoverview.html

However at least two sites are missing.

ebay Portugal and ebay Thailand.

In addition the link to the Executive Team and Press Releases both give me 404 errors.

With thanks

Good afternoon.

A quick question about the new policy basically forcing "immediate payment required" on all sellers for "eligible" transactions.  "eligible" has been translated as meaning under $1,000.

However, based on comments from a "pink" on the eBay.com board, a seller could bypass that new policy by simply offering "pick up available" in all his/her listings.  Such listings would no longer be "eligible" to the new policy.

Is this correct?

Can Canadian sellers listing on eBay.ca and/or eBay.com continue to operate the same way they have for years: once a buyer click on the "buy-it-now" that item is no longer available to anyone else - regardless how long the buyer takes to pay - as long as "pick up available" is selected at time of listing?

A clear YES or NO answer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have my site/shipping preferences set to not ship to Africa, Italy, and a few other places. Today I had a buyer purchase from me and she is in Italy. I am shipping to her and crossing my fingers since a lot of items to Italy seem to go astray. (Hate to lose a sale!) Can you check to see why the shipping preferences don't always seem to hold? Thanks.

This one isn't your responsibility either but there is no one else to point it out to.

The “Ask a Question Form” in the answer centre is confusing to some people.

If you go through the steps of trying to ask a question.

There is no box that says title.

The box where you enter the thread title says QUESTION

The box where you enter the question says DETAILS

Which is one reason we get item numbers and web addresses in the title.

The posters don't realize they are typing a title they think they are typing the question.

Why can’t the box that says QUESTION be renamed TITLE ?

I think that would be less confusing to posters.

Hi: I am new to this board, and I would like to ask a few questions that may have been answered in past boards. Canada Post shipping small packet international airmail to South Korea, Japan , China, Hong Kong, increased last Jan from $21 (with added $2 insurance per $100 value) to about $74 airmail ($50 for Surface). As a seller of quality vinyl LP to international buyers, I am now unable to sell because of high mailing. With frustration, two points I want to make. A few days ago, I called Canada Post to complain and they replied that they have not had many other complaints. I suggest other upset Canadian sellers call Canada post directly and lodge complaints in large numbers.

Canada eBay buys services from Canada Post. How much pressure has Canada eBay put on Postal service to lower the ridiculous new small package international airmail?

Finally, what have other sellers (vinyl, small items. etc.,) done about mailing airmail to Asian buyers. Thanks for your consideration.

Concerning the new (and dumb) "It Ain't Yours Until You Pay For It Policy"... several questions...

1- I often use auctions mixed with BIN prices. So if a buyer is interested in one BIN, he'll have to pay it immediately and wait to see if he wins the auction? What if he wins then? Will PayPal give me back the additional $0.30 I will pay for this stupid rule?

2- I am not on my computer 24/7. What if a buyer from France (buying on eBay.com) sends me an invoice request in the morning (here it will be the middle of the night). I won't probably be able to send him the combined invoice until noon, sometimes even when I get back home after work. In the meantime, buyer #2 see one of the items buyer #1 wants and buys it. Buyer #1 will be angry at me for not sending the combined invoice faster. He will probably ding my stars on communication. Or even back out of the sale entirely. Sales lost.

3- Or maybe buyer #1 won't wait for the combined invoice and pay for the items immediately. More fees for me, because FVF would have been less if combined shipping was involved. Will eBay refund me the overcharge?

General comment: Seriously... you should give us sellers the option to opt in. Or offer it only if buyers use the cart NOT for ALL Buy It Now listings. If I want to give 5, 7 or 10 days to my buyers before paying, that  is MY choice! EBay SHOULD NOT override my choice! X-(

Hi pierrelebel,

I don't know that offering local pick up will render an item ineligible for the new pay-to-own buying flow, this is the first time I hear anything about that. I'll check with the relevant team and get back to you.

I'd like to bring some precision to your statement about the definition of 'eligible' in this context though. To be eligible, an item (I'll refer to items because a listing can have multiple items) needs to meet all of the following criteria:

1) BIN Price under $1000

2) Payment made via PayPal od merchant credit card

3) Have specified shipping to the buyer's location

4) Be purchased from eBay.com

If any of these criteria aren't met, the buyer will go through the current 'commit to buy' flow.

Hello msmaggie060,

Setting shipping exclusions on the Sell Your Item form isn't going to prevent people located in your no-ship zones from being able to bid on your item. All this does is show what these exclusions are on the listing page.

There is a setting in the Buyer Requirements section of your Site Preferences that says "Block buyers in locations to which I don't ship." That box needs to be ticked in order to block these bidders.

Raphael, sorry I guess I wasn't clear in my question but the settings I was refering to were my settings in Buyer Requirements under site preferences "Block buyers in locations to which I don't ship". These are the ones I have set and these no-ship zones actually appear under shipping details on the item that just sold to Italy.

BTW, I have read of other sellers who have experienced the same problem.

Hello lady.stark,

1) I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. The same buyer wouldn't use BIN and place a bid at the same time, it's one or the other. If the buyer uses BIN and pays immediately, the listing is over and your fees will reflect the sale as it happened.

2) In this scenario, you wouldn't risk any bad feedback or low DSR because Buyer #1 would not end up in a transaction with you until a payment was made. There would not be any feedback from them on the 1st item.

3) Remember that for Shipping FVF is calculated according to the 1st domestic shipping price on your listing, even for international sales. If you offer free shipping within Canada, you won't be charged FVF on the shipping price for items sold to France, even though you do charge shipping there. Hence you can still issue a partial refund to that buyer after the fact and not get higher FVFs as a result.

msmaggie060, what I think happened is this: buyer put a Canadian or US address (or another country you ship to) as their primary shipping address. Then they sent the payment, but didn't change the address when paying (or changed it back to their Italian address). I might be wrong, but that is one possibility.

Yes, I know that is always a possibility but I don't think that is what is happening here.
