September 30th 2015 Weekly Session

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our weekly session. Today I'll leave the thread open for most of the day and come reply as time permits.

Here are the issues I am currently tracking:

  • Full shipping FVF charged on combined orders with discounted shipping (dutchman48)
  • Notifications reappearing in the header (pocomocomputing)
  • UPC codes suddenly not recognized on live listings (mjwl2006)

And the issues for which I have had news:

  • Listings allowed to go live without a photo (rose-dee) - This is a known bug that is being worked on.
  • SYI stripping the weight off when switching back to USD on an item that was originally in USD and set up with calculated shipping (block36) - bug has been logged and work should begin soon.
  • SYI preventing relist and Sell Similar if the original listing had a non compliant photo (pierrelebel) - problem has been identified and I am engaging with the relevant team to address.

"The eBay.com and eBay.ca programs are identical."

Could you please provide links to both programs.

Thank you.

Re: September 30th 2015 Weekly Session

Good afternoon.

Third time im raising it: any adjustment to 'handling fees' hijacks the syi page and strips Item Specifics. This is starting to prove a major problem. I'm not the only seller reporting it.

Thanks,

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

I'm tracking this as you can see in my opening post today. The bug is known and is being worked on. For now the work around is to use the bulk edit tool to change your handling time or fees. To do that, select the listings you want to update in My eBay and click the Edit button. This also works if you select only one listing.

One last thing, if a buyer tries to answer the "did this item arrived by this date " question with a "no" but the estimated shipping time period has not even elapsed yet, will the system stop them. Example buyer receives item Oct 3rd and goes to leave feedback on October 3rd - estimated time was between Oct.1st-Oct. 4th and he tries to say "no" it did not arrive on time. Will the system stop that and advise them that the allowable time has not elapsed yet so if they are in receipt of the item they should choose "yes".

In this scenario, the buyer would not be blocked from replying "no" to the question but eBay would ignore it when measuring your OTS metric.

Hi Raphael

Got emails today in my email that I had offer on 4 items (All listed on .com)

Clicked on review and respond and it says I do not have any offers. but bottom right says you have one competing offer or such.

Logged into .ca where my store is and no emails in messages for offers.

Then logged out and logged into .com and the offers show up. I opened one of the messages and clicked on review and respond and I had to sign into .ca to then deal with the offer.

Is this going to be more of the garbage Ebay is playing with for Canadians listing on .com and .ca if they are in Canada?

Any one else have any of these issues showing up yet.

Please find out if this is also going to be the norm automatically for Canadians listing on .com and .ca together. I open my ID through .ca.

Hi dutchman48,

I just looked at your eBay Messages on eBay.com and I see all 4 offer emails there. Can you have a look and confirm?

I said they were on .com. They never were on .ca until I went through the double login as stated above. I just also added I can no longer send an invoice from .ca either

Since the issue isn't visible anymore (missing emails on .ca) it's impossible for me to trouble shoot this. If you ever see this happen again please don't touch anything and email me directly.

I do have to deal with my offers and buyers!

Of course, which is why I ask that you contact me as soon as you see the problem so I can take a look and allow you to continue on with your business 🙂

I just sent my invoice on the 4 items from .com, and the shipping discounts set up are not working. Shipping should have been $3 and it wanted to charge $6.

How much more of this garbage are we in Canada supposed to put up with before getting fed up?

Raphael, this is no reflection on you but on Ebay treating Canadians as trash.

I will also be checking my invoices to make sure the 20% discount still applies to sales on .com since nothing else is the same any more.

I take no offence at all from what you are saying. I would however love to be able to investigate and figure out any of the issues you encounter, but I really don't have enough to look at. Are you able to send me an email with all the details you can gather? Which order was it that gave you the wrong shipping charge on the invoice? Thanks in advance.

I just had someone in the US buy 12 tokens after I accepted all his offers. He paid for each one separately. I hope it is not another one of these cart issues where they can not be added to the cart because Ebay chooses to have them show up as immediate payment required. That needs an answer ASAP as I am tired of Ebay gouging on shipping as well as Paypal on multiple payments. I can't afford to refund all the extra payment and eat the costs for $3 and $4 items.

Please find out about this ASAP as I am totally PO'd this morning with all the you know what with no notification of any kind from Ebay of any changes.

Again, please provide me with specific item numbers so I know what to look at. Probably better to do that via email for privacy concerns.

Re: September 30th 2015 Weekly Session

I had a customer recently pay for each item separately even after I had sent a combined invoice. She said that Paypal would not let her pay at one time. I've heard of this happening to others too so this might be a problem at Paypal's end.

When you had a problem sending an invoice, were you trying to send it from the site that you had created it on? It's been at least a year if not longer since I've been able to send an invoice from .ca or .com if the listing was done on the opposite site. I always have two windows open..one that is signed into .ca and one that is signed into .com. It's a pain to have to go to the same site as the listing but I doubt that will change.

That was about active and correct UPC code not being recognized on relist.

This is about any adjustment to handling fees stripping all the Item Specifics.

Two distinct and separate problems.

Look at the last 12 token sales on my items sold with individual payments. He just emailed me back that he was forced to pay each one individually.

This is a time consuming, money grabbing bunch of garbage by Ebay and needs to be stopped.  I have all kinds of open issues and we both know none ever get replied to or fixed. Ebay just does not care,\. Maybe the BBB, Consumer Affairs. and any other agency would like to know about this. I should not put it that way but I am really PO'd at the money Ebay is stealing from sellers and buyers with programs they refuse to fix. Maybe someone from Ebay would like to call me,.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm not mixing up issues, the SYI "resetting" item specifics happens both when one changes the currency and attempts to change the handling cot or time.  The work around I propose (doing it via BEAR instead of SYI) will work for updating handling settings on your listings.

How can we be sure of that Raphael? Unless we are checking our feedback every day and keep track on which day someone left a feedback and then compare it to the estimated delivery date in order details we have no way of knowing when the buyer even said the item was late.  Unless we can compare the information for ourselves we have no way of knowing if ebay is really not counting an item as being late in that situation.

I wasn't aware of these surveys. From the article it does look like this was a series of surveys done with US members. As for the reason why some sellers are invited to participate and some aren't, I apologize in case you don't like my response but with literally millions of members, it would be impossible to contemplate asking everyone of them for feedback.

I don't have a way to tell you how to verify that for yourself, but it's not different than back when the DSRs were anonymous... How could you tell that your DSR score was correct without knowing who gave you want score, or whether they gave you a score at all?

We won't count a transaction as having arrived late if the buyer responds with a no to the on time shipping question before the date stated in the question.

Re: September 30th 2015 Weekly Session

That's right, it will and that's what I have done when I got desperate enough BUT THE BULK EDIT TOOL ALSO ADDS PRODUCT CATALOGUE DATA and wipes out associated Item Specifics (without warning) to listings that it touches and so far all those details have been seriously incorrect.

And I mean that. Wrong, all wrong.

It took me weeks months and years to get these listings correct. Therefore, the Bulk Editor isn't really an option for sellers in my categories at present. Unfortunately. It's a huge time-waster and morale soul-sucker to keep finding ways to workaround problems that are really fundamental to selling on this platform.

But thanks.

I'm sorry you feel this way Maureen.

I don't get these issues with BEAR at all. Could you give me 2 items of yours so I can try adding a $1 handling fee to them and see for myself if it messes up anything else?

Thanks.

I also got 2 orders from .ca for notes listed on .com and they are screwed up as well. 1 order never gave discounts and the other picked a number out of the air. I DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO SEND YOU 59 ITEMS TO LOOK AT.

This is an absolute mess and needs to be fixed or I am gone in the not to ditant future other than no store and the odd item. I guess Ebay really doesn't care about whaat works or not, as long as they can steal money from both buyers and sellers to pad their income.

dutchman, as I said earlier you can just send me the buyers' IDs. This will take just 5 minutes. Please send me the info like this:

buyer 1 - issue encountered

buyer 2 - issue encountered

buyer 3 - issue encountered

I really can't help you if you don't at least show me where the problem is.
