I made my first purchase and the total amount included shipping was $22.24.
My statement shows $23.66.
I'm from Canada, but the purchase was made on my US credit card, and shows accordingly.
Is the extra $1.42 due to duty or the Global Shipping Program?
I can't see a breakdown anywhere of how the $1.42 was applied.
Thanks!

Was it a GSP item?

An item shipped through the Global Shipping Program.

Currency exchange?
Card is US-based but holder is Canada -based?
Is there a 1-800 number on the card (or your cc invoice) you could phone to learn where that charge came from?
The GSP is a freight forwarder used by US and UK sellers. It pays Canadian duty *(if applicable) on imports valued over $150, sales taxes on imports valued over $60(?). and a small service fee of ~$5.
So it's doubtful the difference is GSP import fees.
*The Canadian duty-free allowance was $20Cdn (~$15US) until July 1. Even if duty is not applicable, sales taxes will be charged.
There is still a little confusion as we learn the new system.

I could try calling, but it's such a small amount. I'll see how long I'm on hold, thanks!

What does your payment receipt from PayPal say? It's supposed to have a breakdown of the fees.
When I asked if it was a GSP item... my thoughts were that, maybe, you were not logged in when you saw the first amount. But when you logged in, the taxes were adjusted to the province you live in. And there was a difference because of that. Just a thought....

I'm wondering if it has something to do with either the holder of the credit card being Canadian or the purchase being made on the .ca site triggering a bit of currency conversion on the bank's part.

Well, I'm glad you finally know what happened, although I do not quite understand... they charged you in CAD $ on your US credit card... how is that even possible? Did they make 2 currency exchanges, which is why there is a different amount?
