Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

You bought the Thing.

It was shipped to Canada.

It was confiscated by CBSA (Customs).

It is the responsibilty of the importer/buyer to know if a Thing can be legally imported into Canada.

Any item valued over ~$15US is supposed to be assessed for duty and Sales Taxes at the border.  Mostly sales taxes.

WE NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS WITH AMAZON.CA!!! WHY IS THAT???

Because AmazondotCA is either selling its own goods, which are warehoused in Canada, and did not have to pass through customs inspection, or from an independent Canadian seller who ships from Canada.

EBay is a worldwide venue with 125million+ independent sellers, shipping into Canada.

If a US or UK seller is using the Global Shipping Program, the Thing will be assessed for import fees at the GSP plant. The US one is in Kentucky.  Certain products are stopped there rather than at the Canadian border.

The most complained about stoppages have been on lithium batteries and vintage guitars built with rare woods that come under CERTES regulations.

What were you trying to import?

"WE NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS WITH AMAZON.CA"

You will if you shop on Amazon.com.

Shop Canada or keep it under $20.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

What type of "problems" we will have if shopping from Amazon .com? In my experience shopping from Amazon USA is just as straight forward as shopping from dot CA, all the shipping /import fees are pre-calculated in advance and before you pay you can see exactly how much it will be in Canadian dollars.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

You are purchasing from the U.S. and subject to Canadian import duties, tariffs, and taxes.
Read the info in the links I provided for you.
Anything you purchase for over $20 is subject to those additional fees.

I shop both sites frequently, and have for years.
Amazon.com does not calculate and add those Canadian duties, tariffs, and taxes at the time of purchase.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

Went to Amazon.com, picked a vise for $82.10 USD, went to the check out, the above is the screenshot of the item in Canadian dollars plus all the fees and the total in CAD, have done this type of purchases for 3 years now. never paid a penny more than what was on the total.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

"The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient's country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be fulfilled by the recipient; Amazon has no control over these charges, nor can Amazon predict what they may be. "

Although the pasted copy (above) is absolutely true, but the deposit amount for the import fees that we see in the screenshot, is fairly accurate . there has been 0ne occasion that I was over-charged by $2 CAD and was refunded .

In my original post I should have said, "pre-calculated deposit for import fees" to make my comment reasonably clear but at the end of the day, there has not been a surprise charge by Amazon.com in regard to import fee deposit.

Good for you.
I thought this is your issue:

That was never my issue, it is not my comment, you got me confused with the original poster.

This comment (and shopping from Amazon.com is problematic) was my issue:
"I shop both sites frequently, and have for years.
Amazon.com does not calculate and add those Canadian duties, tariffs, and taxes at the time of purchase."

I went through 3 posts and screenshots to show the rest of us , that it is quite possible to know before hand  the approximate import fees on eligible items sold on amazon USA,, in Canadian dollars, you implied I did not know what I was talking about and need to read more on the subject while my own experience showed the opposite, so I thought maybe I'm missing something , I am merely here to learn and clarify any misconception I might have in regard to shopping on eBay/Amazon.

Regards

Ken.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

The easiest way is to google " how to take a screenshot on windows 10 *(or laptops /mac. etc.) but the way I do it is press windows key and PrtScr key on my keyboard which means whatever was on the screen is now saved in my "photos" file. then all I do is copy & paste it or attach it to a message or a post.

Re: FAKE ADVERTISING

Haha ofc I know how to screenshot!!!
The problem is when I click “choose file” and select the screenshot then try posting it

“Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

The file de26fd6b-f5e5-40c7-a243-d0a98206207d.jpeg does not have a valid extension for an attachment and has been removed. jpg, gif, pdf are the valid extensions.”
For some reason screenshots are jpeg 😞
