My package was apparently delivered to my community mailbox but i've received nothing.

I ordered a pair of timberlands off of ebay from a buyer in Georgia, I am in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. I got an email alert from Canada Post on November 6th saying my item had been delivered to my community mailbox but I received nothing in the mailbox on my street, the mailbox on my house beside my door, and there was no slip notifying me of a parcel waiting for me at any depot (usually this slip is in my mailbox at home or my box down the street, then I have to go to the shoppers/canada post outlet 2 minutes away and show them the slip and ID to get the parcel).

I went directly to Canada Post without a slip and gave them the tracking number and my info and said theres nothing they could do today as they were closing in 2 minutes and they would deal with it tomorrow (ugh). I tried opening up tickets online but apparently if your not the sender they don't give a **bleep**, and I contacted the sender and he said because It was an international package he's no longer responsible once it gets across the border, and that it's canada post's problem now.

My Canada Post tracking # is: 7035114484397299. In 'My eBay', under 'purchase history', when I click on my tracking number it gives me a small tracking history, and underneath delivered It has a postal code; R3M 0T0. This is not the postal code I gave the buyer. I've googled this postal code and actually found it affiliated with a Canada Post depot in the southwest end of the city, but apparently it's only open 9:30-1:30....

So frustrated can someone please help me, anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go back to the PO (outlet or office?) with more time.

Normally, if the parcel was not delivered, it will be returned and available 24 hours later at the Outlet on the delivery slip.

Was there a Key in your community mailbox? The carrier may have run out of them.

That's pretty bad customer service, and I would be complaining to the local PostMaster (at the Post OFFICE, not the manager of the shop the outlet is in).

No key, no delivery slip. This Canada Post outlet is where literally all of my packages have been in the last year I don't know where else I would even go. I called them yesterday and they said they were still looking into it and would call me with any details. I persisted and called again today and went over all the details with a totally new Canada Post employee, even the part about it being at the R3M0T0 outlet. She was just perplexed that it would be at any other postal code other than the one I gave, and I asked if she could get in contact with them somehow? She told me there's a reason no one has their number and it's so we don't bother them 20 times a day. I said even other Canada Post employees though? She said even they don't have the number of the outlet and that I should just wait for it to sort itself out. I work every single day and this place is only open 9:30-1:30 mon-fri as far as I can tell from other upset people in google reviews.

Did you receive any tracking information for the US leg of the item's journey?  What you have there is a domestic tracking number.  Did you receive a US tracking number from eBay or the seller?

Yup I did and it made it into Canada without any holdups as far as I can tell. Then eBay gave me that domestic tracking number once it entered Canada. The Global Tracking # I got from eBay is: UPAAB000000243500483

Oh dang I totally just realized I put that I ordered them from a buyer in my original post and that doesn't make any sense. I ordered them from a seller in Georgia, I am the buyer in Canada. Sorry for any confusion.

I encountered a similar situation recently.  I was the sender and was given the wrong postal code.  I called Canada Post Customer Service and it was easily resolved.  Evidently, through their computer system, they can change a postal code if given the tracking number.  You may be on hold for a bit but do it quickly in the event the package is returned to the sender.

If the CSR tells you they can't do that, call back to speak to someone else or ask to speak to a supervisor.

It's been three days so it's possible it's sitting in limbo at some postal depot.  I don't understand how it could have been left in a mailbox with that postal code when the address didn't match.  It likely was returned to the depot, or the recipient took it to the nearest postal outlet.

In my case, the item wasn't delivered.  It said "out for delivery"; the next day, it said "item processed" and the day after, "out for delivery" again" so I knew it was bouncing around and that's when I determined it had the wrong postal code.

Good luck!  Hopefully Canada Post will help .... quickly.

Everyone I've asked has told me to go to that depot first thing tomorrow morning before work and I'm crossing my fingers that it's just sitting in limbo there. I'll be honest if it's just sitting at that depot and I find it on my own terms without anyone notifying me I'm not going to be the happiest customer...

Anyways on a more positive note thank you all for your help! My friend told me to post my issue here and I've had a multitude of replies within hours, just a great forum thanks again.

Thanks for all your info, too, kaf.ca.  So it looks as though your item was forwarded through the Global Shipping Program.  It was likely shipped as freight after being received from the seller in Kentucky, and then a logistics company sent it along to you by mail after it reached Mississauga.

There have been quite a few posts on this board from people in situations similar to yours and I could be wrong, but they all seem to involve the GSP.  Their items are scanned as "delivered" even though the buyers don't have them in their hot little hands.

Your information on the postal code on the tracking information is of considerable interest to this shipping geek.  I know that when I have a shipping label generated by Canada Post, some or part of the postal code is in large characters at the bottom of the label, and I wonder if that's the format of the postal code generated by the logistics company's shipping software.

So I'm wondering if these items are considered "delivered" when they reach a postal code of an outlet, hub or station of sorts because of the postal code information on the shipping label.  Those people who have followed up on their posts sometimes say that they've received their item in the mail a few days after it was scanned as "delivered," although there was recently one who filed a success claim of non-delivery for their item.

I hope you post again to let us know how things worked out with your visit to the outlet, station, hub, or whatever it is at that postal code.

Sorry to hear you've had such a difficult time with this @kaf.ca.heh2slds! You've gotten some great advice here, but I wanted to also chime in that you should also consider opening a request with us (http://ebay.to/2yooR6x) if you haven't already. As it was sent through the Global Shipping Program, and scans as delivered to a different Post code than you provided the seller you have a good case. Hoping it shows up without more hassle on your part!

11/10/2017 UPDATE:

My package has been found !!!! :):):) I

Well I was definitely starting to lose hope, especially when I wasn't having any luck getting a hold of anyone at the SW Winnipeg Canada Post depot (I left 3 messages over the last 2 days and their hours are apparently 9:30-1:30pm??). But this morning around 9am I got a call from that same depot saying they did in fact have my package waiting there for me.

I asked how long it had been there and they said it arrived on 11/06/2017 >.<....I told them how I'd received the email notifying me it had been delivered etc and I asked them what postal code was listed on the box for it to be delivered to and it said my correct address and postal code on it. As far as I can tell, and I think someone mentioned this earlier in the thread, the delivery driver must have ran out of keys/delivery notice slips to leave me? Or maybe he put the slip on my doorknob or under/on the mat and it blew away I really have no idea, tbh I'm just thrilled that they found my package as the boots it contained are very rare and I've been trying to find a size 10 in them for literally years. (I attached a picture of them in case anyone's curious they are a Timberland x Black Scale collaboration and essentially deadstock everywhere. I'm a bit of a sneaker head so hopefully that gives a little insight as to why I was trying so hard not to just get a refund and actually find the package)

Well, it's been fun everyone (lol). Once again this is a fantastic forum and you guys have all been a ton of help. Hopefully you don't see me back on here anytime soon, because it most likely means Canada Post lost another one of my packages lol.

Cheers

Tory Friesen

I'm wondering if these items are considered "delivered" when they reach a postal code of an outlet,

Doesn't work for me.

My postal code is V8R 5G8, but the nearest Outlet is five blocks away on OakBay Avenue and the Post Office is even further.

Vastly different postal codes.

Remember a code , in the Big City is a postal walk. My carrier does about four different postal walks in a day. And that includes a dozen lowrise apartment buildings.

Also remember that the Oak Bay Pharmasave and the Oak Bay Junction post office also have postal codes that start with "V8R".  My musings were that there may be circumstances where an item is considered "delivered" if it makes it to a CPC owned or franchised location which shares the first half of the postal code with the item's actual destination.

Which would be a bit crazy, but not implausible in my opinion, for rural locations.  The "V0R" prefix covers nearly all of the south Island, for example.  When I lived in a remote rural location, most people just had their mail delivered to "General Delivery" rather than take out a post office box.  Items would have been considered "received" when they reached the post office--possibly even sooner--and not the recipient.

Anyway, it doesn't sound as though any of this has anything to do with the OP's situation, so I'll quit while I'm behind on this.  Smiley Very Happy

Best to start a new thread for your problem rather than adding to a 2017 thread.

https://community.ebay.ca/t5/forums/postpage/choose-node/true/interaction-style/forum

One thing you can do is check with Canada Post and submit a Service Ticket for the problem.
