RE: Why is it that virtually ALL U.S. sellers charge Canadian eBay buyers exorbitant shipping fees? You would think that the USA is so wealthy that they could fund their own postal services or help their sellers to compete wordwide..

BECAUSE most USA seller's don't care iof they ship to Canada,, they can do it most small packages, first class mail for about 9.50$ which has tracking, but they consider us international which means, they charge us international shipping fees, that are approx,.19.99 for flat rate small package to 49.99 for large package flat rate,,it is wrong, but some don't know any better..

China chooses to subsidize their sellers. Canada and the U.S. do not . Much shipping from Canada to U.S. is more expensive than the other way around especially if tracking is desired. Also the USPS even with the large increases in foreign shipping rates is not operating with big profits. In the second quarter of this year it had a tiny profit of $12 million dollars.

Sometimes when looking up prices on USPS I've noticed that the site kind of defaults to a more expensive option than other available options that are easy to miss. Not sure but could be one reason.
