Still no official details on what level it is going to be at or whether it is going to be set at zero. But it is going to change and probably drop significantly as of Tuesday.
Seems like our lives are all about to change substantially. Not talking about our Ebay lives, i'm talking about our Canadian lives. If you read the official statements coming from the White House, Canada has now been classified as a threat to the national security of the US. If we retaliate to the tariffs coming on Tuesday, additional tariffs will be levied on Canada by Trump (this may not matter much because apparently the 25% coming on Tuesday will pretty much shut down all industry doing business with the US).

Tuning in to the Trudeau announcement now (but he's not speaking yet).
Thanks everyone for supporting each other during this trying time. In all my years of business and things that happened that were bad, this takes the cake.

When you have everything invested in a brick and mortar store you're on your own. ANY simple thing like these shuts you down. When you're part of an online community like this you're never alone and shutting us down get's personal....

Yes, and our PM just announced the retaliatory measures that will be taken. I have already deleted everything on my .com site, and now I'm changing my shipping to exclude the US because I will not pay a nickel for a tariff by that idiot. We can and will be okay as Canadians—IF WE STAY TOGETHER.
Don't lose faith in yourself, your community or your country- we can and will deal with this.

Wow. Did you see and hear Trudeau's response to Canada's greatest threat?... Wow... I'm not sure any person in Canada would've represented us better as Canadians.
As someone married three times and experienced love lost three times it's true... you never know what you've had until... they are gone.
After the forced exit of Mr. Trudeau your choices are Christia Freeland, Mark Carney and Karina Gould.

Sigh, despite only being "medium old" I'm getting to old for this..... what a crazy few months it has been and who knows going forward.
I have the problem that half of my stuff is .COM listed, so it is not easy for me to sell to everyone else except US folks, so I've shut my store down, aside from auctions ending in minutes and one other that has a bid on it.
Between this site and another site I fortunately only have 2 US folks "due parcels" so I sent this to them:
=========================================================
Hi! Thank you for your purchase! I am located in Canada. It appears that there is going to be an all inclusive 25% tariff that will somehow be applied to all items imported from Canada to the US including "small" items like the one you've purchased. It is very very tough to tell how this will in fact be be accomplished, but I am contacting you to advise that if I ship your parcel on Monday, it is possible that you'll end up paying the 25% tariff because it is the importer that pays the tariff.
I will leave the decision up to you, if you're fine with taking the chance, I'll mail your parcel on Monday. If you'd rather not, it is no problem, you can cancel the transaction or let me know you want me to cancel it and I will cancel it for you.
If we do cancel, I will hold the item aside for you when the storm blows over so to speak and you can purchase it again then, if you are still interested in it.
I wanted you to be aware of the situation and I am 100% fine with whichever option you choose.
Have a great evening/day!
===============================================================
I very much feel for folks who are trying to live off their business these days, it has been a whirlwind of problems. I'm very fortunate that I'm not as dependant on income from here as I once was. I'm also lucky because the postal strike gave me time and opportunity to search out non-postal/online options which coincidentally are natually mostly or all "US safe" and appear so far to be viable, so I'll put more attention on them until things settle down for cross border stuff.
Good luck to all as we weather our way through yet another serious challenge.....

Im available in any way I can to help out. Send me a direct msg if you like. I'd be honoured to communicate with your customers on your behalf if it helps you.

I've gone on vacation, starting with for the week, I'll extend it if I have to.
Since I ship with Stallion and packages are crossing the border Monday, I will be making the 45 minute drive to Mississauga to drop off my items between noon and 3pm when they're open tomorrow. I advise anyone who can mail stuff tomorrow (with Chit Chats or Stallion) to do so, because it doesn't look like packages will be allowed over on Tuesday.
I ended my auctions (except a few tokens) making one US buyer the top winner of my German paper money. I sent him a note to explain, he paid for all 45 banknotes and thanked me for throwing in free shipping and his package will go to Stallion tomorrow to be posted on Monday.
Some customers understand, but it's tough because I don't like to tell people I'm in Canada to avoid being discriminated against as an international seller.
I am going to look into other options (like the UK site). Stallion has good rates of shipping to the UK, so definitely worth checking into, although the store fees and listing fees are quite high compared to US and Canada sites.
I'm visiting the B&M store where I work on Monday (where they drive packages across from Niagara) to see what they plan to do about the problem and maybe brainstorm some ideas.

Is it not slightly exaggerated? Why packages will be not allowed? They might be taxed, yes, but I also doubt it will happen quickly. All my US buyers are already taxed according to their state of residence, so I would expect Ebay simply will add another tax to the order? Until now, no announcement from Ebay.
I have 3.000 items in my US store and I don't plan to change anything yet - business as usual here, until something will be officially announced and changed.

i'm not modifying any of my listings in the slightest; most are on .com.
If US buyers get charged tariffs they can pay them...let them see what the President they elected has done to help them.
I am not lowering prices one penny. US citizens must pay the tariffs Trump is charging them.

I really cannot see them worrying about consumer goods, so labor intensive. Just like goods coming from the US here via mail rarely have any taxes on them & we really don't have a minimum/maximum free either. Sure would be a lot of extra work & slow the mail down. My thought is that they may rethink this & bring some sort of an amount in even if it less than the current $800 (which to me seemed rather generous anyway). Hope I am right but time will tell.

i just glanced over earlier posts in this thread. I may be misinterpreting but it seems that some people think deminimus being canceled means you can't ship to the US. You still can, it's just that everthing sent from Canada to the US will be subject to a 25% tariff because de minimus is now 0 instead of $800. This won't effect letters sent of course since they have no value. It just effects merchandise.
btw anything sent to the US before Feb 1 will NOT be charged the tariff.

You have a store in the United States that you choose to block from Canadian seller's view.
Given today's trade war eruption are you sure you're posting on the correct forum?

Please clarify, because I have no idea what are you talking about. My US store is fully accessible to Canadian buyers - however, I rarely sell to Canada - most of my buyers are from the US, it's why I have registered my store there. BTW, at the time of the registration Ebay.ca did not yet exist at all, so I did not have any other choice 😀

Chit Chats and Stallion can take packages over because of de minimis. Once it's zero, I'm not sure if they'll be taking them over, charging us a tariff or what. Until I find out how that affects Stallion, I'm not wanting to take chances on shipping. I'm waiting for official word from them.
I sent a note to customer service asking for them to provide an update to all their clients as soon as they know what's going on (I'm sure I'm not alone in sending one of those messages).
They will be able to take packages over on Monday, not sure what happens on Tuesday. I'll be able to ship on Tuesday with Canada Post, but my location says USA which means no one is expecting to pay Canadian Tariffs from my store. So until I find out what's happening, I can't make decisions (like changing my location).
I found out my other eBay account (registered to my partner's corporation) is still active, although it doesn't have lots of feedback on it (enough that we can list small items, but wouldn't take risks on things of greater value). We might try listing some stuff on the Canadian eBay site to see how that goes before I decide what to do with my current eBay store.

Indeed, ChitChats and Stallion is a different story. They will be probably not able to operate anymore 🙄

Well this is not looking good. A lot of Canadians are about to lose their livelihoods it seems.

With all due respect, you're on eBay Canada's forum, not on the eBaydot com forum. Yes, there is a difference. Unfortunatlely you've disabled the "View Listings" toggle on your settings and from this place in the forum your US store is not visible to forum members to assist you. ( See photo. ) I assure you eBay Canada exists and your added emoji is an insult to all of us.
