Expedited Lite in Canada purchased on EBay

I've tried using this 4 times and I am within weight and volume restrictions but CP comes back and charges another approx $15 to my account on top of the amount I've already paid making the shipping cost to me more than had I used another shipping method.   Has anyone else had this experience?   Does the actual item have to fit through the "Slot" lettermail?  I am using a small box 19x11x4 cms that is well within the 3220 cms max. volume allowance and weighing less than 200 grams.  Thanks in advance for any helpful insights

No, it doesn't have to fit in the slot. I'd suggest contacting eBay through social media. Their reps tend to be better trained and actually have the power to make things happen.

Re: Expedited Lite in Canada purchased on EBay

I previously used very small 6"x4"x4" boxes for action figures, but changed to bubble mailers after being overcharged too many times.

It might just be confirmation bias, but I think that using boxes increases the chances of this happening. If you are selling something that can be safely shipped in a bubble mailer, even if it is not ideal, I would try switching. I sometimes use a cardboard stiffener or two with the item and some additional bubble wrap.

As someone else said, contact Canada Post directly using their social media customer service. canadaposthelps is their account on Twitter. You should direct message them.

I understand not everybody has Twitter, but it's worth it to make a dummy account just for customer service. Most major brands have customer service on Twitter that is more convenient and sometimes better trained than the website customer service. It also helps that you can send them a message, go and do other things, and respond when you get a notification that they replied instead of having to sit on their website for an hour waiting.

Try calling Canada Post and ask what dimensions they have on record for your package.  You might have to ask the 'just learning' bot to talk to an agent 3 times.

It appears and is claimed by @treasurechest0114 that Canada Post is going by vollumetric weight when they are not supposed to, and upcharging:

(There are a few threads on this now)

If LxWxH / 5000 is more than 0.2 with the measurements they have (not your own measurments), then it could explain yours too.

Clarify that you are in Canada.  Make sure the customer rep understands that you are in Canada. Refer often to Canada Post.

The customer service reps assigned to social media are pretty good, but they are American and have difficulty with concepts like "soveriegn nation".

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.

Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is.

Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

When I ship anything via Expedited Lite this is the exact way I ship everything, never had an issue with upcharging. you may be on to something...

Re: Expedited Lite in Canada purchased on EBay

Very long story short I finally figured out the problem - expedited lite was being charged for volumetric weight by Canada post.  After consultation with eBay head office they looked into my claims and confirmed this was in fact the issue and they have, to my knowledge, resolved it with Canada post.   I have now sent 6 boxes within the limits and cross my fingers, so far no incorrect billing from Canada post.  Can you advise me when you last got charged incorrectly for your label?  I'll be disappointed to hear if it's after February 1st.

If you have time check out my posts which talk about the issue, the resolution and my advice on trying to get reimbursed.

With the label being purchased through eBay's account Canada post cannot or should not share details with you.  EBay has to be the ones to request it but I can be a painful process as many of the reps probably did not get the memo.  Again have a read of my posts and sorry I'm not very good at technology so hopefully the below link works.  My commments are about 3/4 through the chain.

Feel free to message me if you want to discuss.  This one was very near and dear to my heart as I had over 17 or so charge backs.  I was determined to solve for me and everyone as I know it impacted so many and was a source of frustration.

Re: Expedited Lite in Canada purchased on EBay

Feb 4 bought label for $8.53 and sent, got billed another $10.45 Feb 9 for same label.   I give up and will use prepaid box which the buyer will ultimately pay for in the end.  Maybe if CP works out the kinks I will try again but it's not my job to educate them and I don't need the stress of dealing with this.  Let me know if you've an easy fix to this, thanks and good luck with sales.
