Wow one in a million event!

I file my items based on the item number, using the last 3 digits.

Today I listed a couple India lots one after the other, when I went to file them they both had 3391 as the last 4 digits (at first I thought I wrote the same number down twice by accident). That's a 1 in 10,000 event.

Add the fact that they're the same enough that I wouldn't notice if one or the other sold when I was picking them, that puts it into the one in a millon category!!

It has happened to me once in the past where I had two of the same country with the same last 3 digits, and unfortunately I sent the wrong one when the first one sold. That was a one in very rare event, but same country and a one in a 10,000 is that much rarer!

I put notes all over each of them to remind me to check for the other when it sells. The buyer will probably get a chuckle when they buy one!

I thought posting something a little lighter than all the other stuff going on at the moment might not hurt....

I was delayed sleeping last night because I sold a token and decided to pack it last night so it would go out today (I'm not trusting that we won't have problems in the future, even if tariffs are delayed until March 1).

I was looking for it under "Northwest Territories" because that was what was written on the holder, and wondering why I couldn't find it. When I'm tired and panicking about finding an item I tend to not think so clearly. Anyway I realized the title was "Canada Trade Dollar", so I looked for it there and found it.

Wow one in a million event!

Mty similar stoiry from a few years ago.

I pack my orders and then mark then with the buyers last name a first initial, next step is to print the labels, match them up, apply and ship.

What I did not realize is that I had two buyers with the same last name and the same first initial (hispanic name not that it matters but Jose is a very common first name and the last name was a similar very common name.

About 10 days latter I'm getting messages from the buyers that I sent the wrong items. To make matters worse one buyer was in California and the other in Germany. Fortunately I had more stock of both and was able to resend the correct items (let the buyers keep the wrong ones, not worth paying to get them back).

The "funny" part is that I almost did the same thing before when I only put the last name on the packages and I though this will never happen again because I will use the first name as well........well nope it didn't help and it did happen again, not sure what the odds are on that...slim? but not "none" obviously!

I had a situation with a name like Rob and Robert with the same last name, two different buyers. I saw the Robert package and picked up Rob's label and I'm thinking "eBay should have printed what's on the sales record", sure enough I found Robert's label to a different state, same last name.

I try to be careful, but every now and again I mess up on packing and have to unpack a few items to sort it out (I end up with an invoice on something I already packed, then I know I packed it with the wrong invoice, probably to the wrong person).

This happened to me on Monday, order packed, labels applied all ready to ship.......wait! What it this packing slip doing here? It should have been inside one of the orders.......oh well, slice open the package, fold up the invoice so it's small enough to fit through the little slot I cut, tape that and off to ship.

FYI - Those packages sent on Monday (via Stallion) most of them were on the way to the border on Tuesday morning and are now showing in the hands of USPS/UPS.

Those 3 packages that have been sitting since the 4th are finally moving, some are showing being turned over to UPS, one which is just going to an address near Buffalo is showing Accepted by UPS earlier today and has already been turned over to USPS for final mile delivery.

It would appear that all the cross border issues have been solved (at least for stuff not made in China). Now we wait to see what happens in three weeks.

The package I mailed last Monday Feb 3 that got "stuck" was delivered today. I think I saw it in the US on Saturday enroute. That poor customer waited a long time for his token while we were having package problems at the border. I felt bad he got caught up in this, but it was just an auction with bids that I couldn't end (without selling to the highest bidder which I didn't want to do because I knew quite a few people were interested, the ones without bids were ended and are running now for people to bid on).

I mailed a few more packages on Feb 5 to see what would happen, but it was mostly not so important stuff... I think 3 or 4 were merchandise from eBay, the rest were private deals and the customers knew of the problems before I shipped.

Wow one in a million event!

Whew almost another one today!!

This time two packs same country, one 100 size one 200 size....

I usually do a double check, 100 size was 2708 last digits, which is what I pulled, I noticed just before it went into the shipping parcel digit 4 didn't match! 200 size was 1708 last digits. Good thing I usually check the last 4 digits during QA phase... although the origial post wouldn't have worked for that!
