They did it to me as well. I purchased two shipping labels from FedEx (through ebay.ca) thought I would give them a try. The first one I paid $25.75, I gave the package extra width, height, length, and weight. This way I couldn't get dinged for over weight or dimensions. About a week or so after the item was delivered FedEx increased the label to $209.17. I contacted ebay, and FedEx. A supervisor did contact me with FedEx they pointed the finger of blame at ebay. They said the area my item went to is known as an ODA. Which stands for Out of Delivery area. There was nothing I saw on the ebay.ca shipping label purchase area that said anything about the address that I am shipping to being an out of deliver area. I was eventually credited back the extra money they charged me on the shipping label. This was after going through a lot of hoops and loops.
The second FedEx label, the item shipped out from BC where I am located it made it to Nova Scotia, and FedEx said it was lost. I contacted ebay and they said see if the buyer can wait 72 hours. The buyer agreed to wait. They actually waited longer than the 72 hours. While on the phone again with an ebay rep discussing the matter further, I told the rep that I will be refunding the buyer, it was still showing lost. The ebay rep was on board with it. I also asked FedEx what happened to my package? FedEx ignored me on that request. I was also over charged on that label for the missing package. FedEx wants an additional $71.00 on top of what they charged me for purchasing it on ebay.ca.
I have contacted FedEx numerous times, two supervisors got rude with me. One hung up on me. Before she hung up she refused to identify herself. She refused to get a supervisor in Canada to contact me. She did give me the address for FedEx in Ontario. I have sent a registered letter there outlining my complaint on the over billing issue. I also pointed out to FedEx in the letter that there was supposed to be a claim, FedEx closed the claim without letting me know. I have still heard nothing back from FedEx corporate in Canada.
After I refunded the buyer, FedEx a little while later delivered the package to the Buyer after stating it was lost at one of their facilities in Nova Scotia. Ebay has refunded me the cost of the sale on that item, but still battling with ebay to get the additional $71 that FedEx over charged me on.
I have researched and discovered this appears to be an over billing issue going on in the US and Canada, possibly internationally, for at least two years or more that I can detect. It could have been going on for a longer time frame.
I am suspicious that ebay and Fedex Canada have engaged in an over billing scheme against ebay sellers. I am suspicious it is done through and algorithm/software. I have suffered damages as a result.
Myself, I am seeking a legal opinion with lawyers in BC to pursue a possible class action in Canada naming Ebay Canada and FedEx Canada as Defendants.
