Im looking to buy bubble mailers in bulk but im not sure where's the best place. I bought on amazon 100x 4x8 for around $35 a few weeks ago but it does not seems like a good price. After research i found 500x mailers for around $130 on some independant websites (shipping is $30 of the total...), im looking more for a 100x or 200x lot, but all those sites with shipping cost even more than amazon for those amounts, it's like $25 plus $25 shipping for 100x...
Any good places to know? I dont find local pick up spots with good prices here in quebec and shipping cost feels like it makes me overpay

The reason people use plain white envelopes, and cereal boxes, is because they can then ship a card for .92 cents instead of having to send it oversized for 1.94
We can ship standard size with a sleeve, toploader, resealable sleeve and a bubble mailer. I do it all the time. I tested while ago with mesurement tool and we even could ship for $0.92 between 7-10 cards depending how thick cards are and if they are individually sleeved or not. Talking for my supplies. It probably depend of thickness of sleeves and toploaders we use too. Once i bought a 12 cards lot and received them individually sleeves, one toploader, resealable sleeve, bubble mailer, with a $0.92 stamp. Seller pushed his luck at this point but it still did not return to him for insufisent postage
Must be put in mailbox to avoid the mail cops at CP offices though. Last time i asked a friend to go to CP buy a $1.30 stamp for US standard size and put my package in the mailbox for me. They said my packaged was oversized, and made him put and ship with a $1.94 stamp...... While even if it was oversized, US postage is like $3.30... They are lost sometimes at the offices. Shipped a supposely oversized package to US with $1.94 insufisent postage and did not return to me, so it was not oversized

The US $1.94 rate they gave is used for a "regular" (ie 5mm not oversize) letter that weighs 31 - 50g as opposed to the 30g or under rate of $1.30 to the US. If the weight of the letter was over 30g that would cause that pricepoint.
Not sure though why they would use the word "oversized", as you mention one gets many different answers if one asks many different postal folks the same question....

Oh thank you i did not realised $1.94 still is a US postage. Although the office employee was still lost, he told my friend this postage was because the envelope was too thick. Not because of weight. I don't weight much anymore my standard packages because it's never over 30g, but it was just one card, most likely it was under 20g

Probably didn't realize it was going to the U.S.

@rocketscollectibles What kind of bubble mailers are you using that they fit through the 5mm slot? cause I have never found a bubble mailer that fits through at the $0.92 rate or fits the maximum letter size for that slot which is like a 6x9, they have to always go for $1.94 in canada and $3.19 to USA as they are too thick! I have the measurement tool from the post office directly.

I use 4x8 kraft bubble mailers as main envelopes. I have a mesurement tool too they obviously not going into the slot sliding all softly. Gotta push them a bit. I personally consider that the envelope really needs to jam in the slot and can't go in even if i push, to be shipped oversized. Even when it jams i think it might even could be shipped $0.92 but at this point i'm scared to test and not testing my luck. Something very important i understood since i'm selling on eBay is that CP have grey zones, my assumption is that they let go anything that they are not 100% sure. The seller shipping me 12 cards $0.92 proven me that, the office employee in my previous message saying it's oversized while i ship those at standard rate all the time too
But most important over how i consider to ship oversized is that i really never had a single return for insufisent postage, it's trustable

Hi, look into ChitChats for padded envelopes. I've been buying kraft bubble-envelopes from them for the last year, pretty decent prices and quality has been good, might not be the cheapest, however prices are decent. I mainly use the 0 size (6.5 x 10) which costs $40 for 250 envelopes...after taxes (Ontario) it's about 18 cents per envelope. Downside is that you usually have to pick these up from one of their locations, they offer shipping however it's limited. I use them mainly for CD's / DVD's and Cassettes.
For the one's that you're looking for - size 000 (4x8) - they sell 500 kraft envelopes for $55, they also have the polly mailers. I have not purchased size 000, however quality should be decent as I have not had any issues with their kraft mailers. I've also purchased the #4's (100 for $28) which are good - width on these is the maximun allowed for over-sized lettermail through Canada Post - I find these good for shipping lower valued comics / magazines etc - place the item in some plastic, sandwich with cardboard and use the bubble mailer.

Thank you for the suggestions
Chitchats prices looks crazy compared to the average, it this promotionnal? Even if $20 shipping need to be added, it's still like 20$ under prices i see everywhere

You can purchase Chit Chats supplies for pickup at one of their many branches which can save you on the shipping. This is assume you have a branch near you, or aren't taking public transportation. Although, I've seen crazier things than someone carrying a box of 250 bubble mailers on the bus. Shipping from Chit Chats is not that expensive.
It was a good suggestion by whoever mentioned it though. Even with shipping, it's roughly the same or a bit cheaper than Costco. You can also pay via Paypal, since you mentioned you cannot checkout on Costco's site.

Does chitchats sells supplies on place and we can go there directly? Or we must place an order online before and then pickup? They have different policies depending on provinces, we need to be registered to place an order for a pick up too
At worst i'll just make it ship but i wonder if they actually have a store on place, there's 3 branches close to me

Register for an account on their supplies page. This is separate from a Chit Chats shipping account.
Add the items you want to cart, select local pickup. You will get a drop down menu showing which branches you can choose to pick your order up from.

According to the website, select locations in Ontario and Quebec carry stock of the envelopes.
This page has a supply inquiry link to ask your local Chit Chats branch what they have on hand.
If you decide to have the supplies shipped directly to you, the website mentions that they use CanPar for shipping (so no post office boxes).
...
For those in the Waterloo Region: Chit Chats has just opened a store on Gage St in Kitchener.
Ottawa gets a new one in January. They have been busy expanding.
BC - 8 branches
AB - 4 branches
ON - 18 branches + 1 drop-off
QC - 3 branches + 2 drop-off locations
NB/NS/PEI - 31 drop-off locations

I did register for the supply part. But selecting pick up it's for ontario only. For QC we need to contact and request a pick up: branch Pickup is currently only available in select Ontario Branches. For Branch Pickups in Alberta, BC, Ottawa and Quebec, please see here. It says we need to file a request and then they ask our client ID, so we need a regular account. Which i'm not sure to want, i started to create one and had like 100 lines of terms and condition to read and accept at the end, i just gave up at this step, i just want to buy supplies i did not wanted a contract lol

Whoops, forgot the link: https://chitchats.com/shipping-supplies

Uline is pretty much your best option, almost everywhere else hoses people on stuff. Cardboard boxes are relatively cheap at Staples (if you dont need many of them), but not much else is. Comparing their prices to the per unit rates uline sells the same items at, they are absolutely **bleep** customers. I dont buy shipping supplies there unless its a weirdly shaped item and they have a cheap box available, sometimes they are as little at 79 or 89 cents from what I remember the last time I bought a bunch.
There are uline warehouses in Toronto and here in Edmonton. 20 minutes away saves me shipping fees, but the per item savings you get even if you get stuff shipped to you is still worth looking into. 250 6x9 bubble mailers is $53.55 inc gst for me, its 17 and change extra to have same shipped. 100 8x11 bubble mailers is $28, and 100 flat poly mailers is $21 or $22. Go surf their website, the prices are all there.
Shipping to Quebec from Toronto shouldnt be too bad, go on their website and it can calculate shipping for you once you enter your address.
The costco prices are a bit more than Uline, but I dont have to pay shipping so its worth it for me to keep shopping there, for others the costco idea may be the most cost effective, as there's way more of those than Ulines.

Pro-tip at your level: buy on Kijjiji and FB Marketplace from other sellers exiting the business, I bought plenty of Uline and eBay branded supplies at a fraction of MSRP this way
for more day to day and higher volume orders: Staples Industrial (owned by Staples/Bureau en Gros)
cheaper than Uline, free next day delivery, no minimum order
for one-off odd sized items: recycling day for brick and mortar (bike shops, starbucks...). I am not kidding, you don't want to do a 25+ order for just a one-off item you won't sell again
the fancy pants recommending ordering from Uline are nice but it's going to eat into your margin, knowing how cheap you are, I'd recommend agaisnt it
01-04-2022 08:13 PM
Uline does not seems like a good option at all, unless i'm missing something. 500x kraft 4x8 are $98 plus shipping and taxes, it's one of the worse option i could have it's like $140. Chitchats i called and what i understand is that we can't pick up without being registered with them with a regular account and we must place an order (at least in QC), but we can buy to be shipped with a customer account, and it would be still almost half this price
I called them but they could not give me the pricing at the moment, i need to call them again. But thank you actually it might be the spot to go for me if pricing is good and better than chitchats with shipping
knowing how cheap you are
You always need to add your little disrespectful and dellusional touch pointing me out and making your whole posts being worthless and ignored. I literally package the most expensive way in my category, just stop
01-05-2022 09:29 AM
@rocketscollectibles that's all you took away from my response, my comment on you being cheap?
what about the useful advice on buying from Staples Industrial or Kijjiji/FB Marketplace. something that nobody else mentioned?
I am admitingly cheap myself, I think most of us have to be thrifty as Canadian resellers as margins are tighter given shipping costs. As for you, you admitingly stress out on $0.10 insertion fees, you are indeed cheap as well. I told you before to stop posting here 5 times a day and focus on growing your business instead, obviously, you haven't listen. Do as you please, see you in 3 months.
