If Fedex better than Canada Post at crossing the border?

So we all know about the Chicago issue...

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck using Fedex for cross border shipments?

I have always used Canada Post, as it is usually the cheapest option for my light shipments, but it is costing me too much money in "INR refunds".

Any recommendations on other shippers?  The good, the bad, the ugly.

I doubt that it would make economic sense to use Fedex for low cost envelope size packages as their minimum cost is probably more comparable to Tracked Packet or Expedited than to letter mail.

Are you near any of the companies that take your mail across the border and mail it via USPS such as ChitChats or Stallion?

Courier shipments generally clear much quicker compared to postal shipments. The stuff I've sent to the US via courier has all been clearing same day consistently for the last few months regardless of courier. As @pjcdn2005  notes a cross border forwarder via USPS can be invaluable as those shipments will clear same day at a land crossing.

You have about 25 listings priced over $100.00 Cdn.

It would make sense , both economic and preventative to ship those by courier. The cost should be about the same as ExpressPost or PriorityPost.

For the items under $100, you are likely looking at @$25  or so to ship to the USA.  Unless your buyers tend to purchase enough items under $10  to make the courier charges worthwhile.

You can bury the cost of shipping in the selling price and offer Free Shipping.

Or offer Free Shipping on multiple purchases.

As suggested by the other posts, what you seem to be wanting to do is have your shipments avoid the USPS International Sort Center in Chicago, and maybe the ISC in New York, too. Using pretty much any carrier other than the Canada Post-USPS combo will accomplish that, but you’ll need to do your homework to find what will work best for you and your US customers.

Yeah, this is kind of a nothing post, but I find sometimes it helps to frame my problems with different words or see them from slightly different perspectives.

If close enough, consider ChitChats.com -- you drop off the package with them, then they take it across the border and mail with the USPS system (cheap tracked domestic shipping rates). Maximum package value of $750us.

You can also check out NetParcel (which offers shipping discounts with UPS, FedEx, DHL and others).

As a side note: Canada Post uses FedEx for their Priority USA service.

Others have mentioned.....ChitChats, they have a branch in Pickering, immensely faster and will cost you less.

Stallion might be a bit cheaper but their closest location to you is Markham.
