I just received an e-mail about eBay managing my payments, and I figured it was required so I went through the whole thing, added my bank account, etc. Now, all of my payments will be handled directly from eBay to my bank account.
The problem is, I am going to be going from getting my money INSTANTLY (through Paypal's direct-to-bank transfer) to waiting potentially a week or longer to receive my money after being paid?! This is honestly outrageous. I value being able to receive my money instantly as I have for years. I simply cannot believe that eBay considers this an improvement. It's an improvement for their bottom line I am sure, but definitely not for the seller. This is extremely disappointing.
If there is a way for me to revert back to using PayPal for receiving funds, PLEASE let me know.

So even if you open a USD account at a Canadian bank, they still convert to CAD before performing the transfer. Ridiculous.

That was also true with PayPal and always has been. The only way to extract US Dollars from a PayPal account is to send it to a bank actually located in the US.

Maybe you should dig a little deeper rather than skim.
Your sales to Canadian buyers will have lower fees via MP and your overseas sales will also be lower via PayPal. Your sales to US buyers "may" be slightly (as in PENNIES) depending on the rate of sales tax.

Same, in the post PayPal time, my first sell went pretty bad cause it seems like eBay is having trouble sending money to my bank account and I still have to call them tomorrow morning on this issue. This is completely outrageous in my opinion and gives hostility towards eBay.

They have to.
US law does not allow the export of US dollars. (It's more complicated than that, but that's the gist.)
This goes back before 9/11 when the law was made to combat money launderng from drug trafficking and was toughened to combat terrorist organizations.

Yes, but only if you list on .com. Since you list on .ca you will be paid in Canadian dollars so no conversion needed.
I think that fees are going to be fairly even with Managed Payment. Those who are saying that they will be a lot more may not understand exactly how it works.

You can print shipping labels anywhere/anyhow you want to.

Yes, I guess you're right - but what about having the address information preloaded?
How are address labels printed under managed payments? Is Shippo still being used?
Last we heard......Anything...It was still a work in progress.

If you go to paypal.com/shipnow you can print a label and input the buyers information.

I'm with you femme. Of all the problems or complaints I've had over the years related to selling on eBay, PayPal has not been one of them. It's not broken, so I'm not going to fix it!!!

This reply is obtusely vague and does not address the question asked. Please try to respond more concisely and less snippy.
Under MP eBay will not send any transactions to Paypal anymore, nor will it send the buyer or purchase info. Thus, it will not be business as usual printing labels in Paypal. The only way in PP after going to MP is to generate a blank shipping label and manually copy all the buyer's information over to the PayPal Ship Now label printing feature. Not convenient in the least if you have frequent packages to ship out. In a Shippo account connected to eBay, it will import all the purchase info as usual (but you won't be able to use the MP funds to buy labels until they've processed & transferred to your bank).

US law does not allow the export of US dollars.
No way that's it. How would a tourist export cash for their trip. What if a tourist went to an atm in Canada and pulled out $USD? What if a US company wants to buy product outside the US? They have to "export" USD for that.
I've been told by my bank that the reason you can't accept $USD from your PP acct into your $USD acct in your Canadian bank is because Canadian banking laws don't allow transactions in foreign currencies. Back in the olden days when you faced a teller, when I would deposit $USD into my $USD acct at my CDN bank, they used to do quite a bit of calculating to accomplish it. I suspect they did a temporary conversion from $USD to $CAD, entered it into their books, then converted it back and put it into my $USD acct.

Buy loonies at the bank and carry them in her purse, although a very large amount (say $10,000) would incur questions both from the bank teller and from border guards.
Carry a credit card, which will process a CDN purchase by changing it to USdollars. The cc invoice will be in US dollars.
Carry a credit card from an American bank. Money in that account may have been earned in the US, or transferred, which currency exchange from a Canadian bank.
What if a tourist went to an atm in Canada and pulled out $USD?
I have never seen a Canadian ATM that gave USD.
It would be uneconomic for a bank to store two currencies in the machine for an occasional purchase.
Remember the ATM does not print money on demand, it is loaded by bank staff.
What if a US company wants to buy product outside the US?
Unless the foreign company has an American bank, and many quite small businesses* do, the foreign (Canadian) funds are withdrawn from the Canadian bank account in Cdn dollars and converted when the buyer cashes the cheque.
It might not help, but there is actually very little paper or metal money around, compared to the amount of money circulating.
Most transactions are in credit, not cash, including all credit card purchases.
This is a very basic and simplified discussion of the applicable law.

*and again TDNorth and RBCBank do this as part of their mandate for Canadian businesses (why we have an American bank account) and for snowbirds who keep a portion of their money (pensions or earnings) in an American bank because our southern neighbours are disconcerted by the idea that there are other currencies than the American dollar.
