Listing left in store after being sold

I sold an item yesterday from an offer I sent. Today I am looking through my listings for ones to send an offer to, and here is the one I sold yesterday! This had happened to me several times and it means a cancellation and an apology and explanation. I am thinking now that when I get a sale, I need to check my store and make sure it is not still listed.

I do not have a store on eBay, but I have noticed, on occasion in 2023, that the sold listing has gone to my "Unsold" listings, where I have had to delete it...

Relisting of Sold or deleted items has been happening for decades and eBay seems powerless to prevent it.

I really dislike having to explain the problem to buyers who have purchased, it's not fair on them or us.

Do you have any answers as to why this is happening? I had another seller report something similar. If you have a duplicate listing ebay advises you before you attempt to submit. If it happens after there is no email from eBay as a confirmation. As noted above this puts sellers in very bad position if cloned item sells and there is no cloned item to ship.

This has happened to me again. I sent an offer only to find out I had sold this item before. 24-10559-61820.

I explained to the buyer what had happened and asked if there was anything else in my shop that may interest them or would they like me to cancel the order. Two days have passed and I still haven't heard anything. I have until the end of today to ship (which of course I can't) Just wondering what the best course of action is. I keep finding items that have sold still in active listings. I end and delete them when I come across them but sometimes they still slip through.

Hello Devon,

Can you address this issue please. It seems to be a recurringly reported problem on both boards with no easy solution. At least with new or relist/sell similar listings there are emails so verifiable proof it was something the seller did.

i have had this happened many mnay times and is the  reason i'am in the ebay jail  all the time - you sell something and then sometimes it reappears days later in your listings again -- then you  get dinged when it sells again--- and the ebay reps will do nothing about it -- so now i have to check everytime i sell something  but sometimes i found  it will show a couple of days later - so now i have to do weekly checks -- maybe this month with all this checking i can get back in to ebay's good graces and start lowering my ebay commissions the 6 % extra they hit you with when you are in the dog house  and  then let me use promo listings - again -  i hope you get a system set up to check all  your listings after they sell- and just into a habit of checking all the time -- it will pay off ----- some things ebay does right !!!!!!but then somethings wrong well most times wrong    good luck with your journey mine is starting to come to a close

just cancel take the hit and ding and move on -- worrying  about this will not help -- just next time the  day after the sale check you listings see it reappears then delist

I've never actually had this happen, but I keep hearing about it. I'm curious if people affected are using a 3rd party service at all (maybe something like ShipStation, Shippo, Inkfrog, SellBrite, etc). Maybe there's some sort of bug in the integration with eBay Canada's API.
