It looks like eBay is walking back their threat of blocking sellers from listing after July.15/20 if they haven't signed up for Managed Payments.
I wonder why??
Hi silverpinups,
You may have received a communication earlier today regarding eBay managing your payments. We incorrectly communicated that you would not be able to create new listings after July 15th if you were not registered. This was sent in error and is not applicable to your account. We would like to assure you that no restrictions will be placed on your account at this time.
However, we do encourage you to register for managed payments here to enable a more streamlined experience for both sellers and buyers. You can learn more about managed payments on the eBay Seller Centre.

There's a little FAQ here: https://pages.ebay.ca/seller-centre/fees-payments/managed-payments-on-ebay.html. My understanding is that it's starting to roll out for Canadians as well, and will accommodate our listings and sales on .COM, but we cannot opt in until they open registration to us individually, so depending how long that takes, we may not be able to take advantage of the new store insertion fees in time for August 1. It would be ideal if it was ready before then so that any bonus listings from the spring promotion could renew automatically and not need manually ending, but as long as we are eligible for the new store insertion fees I can live with it and wait a little bit longer.

"I for one want to sign up for MP. I need the FREE 10,000 listings they are now offering for August 1. However its my understanding this is not for Canadians only USA residents? Am I wrong?"
Everyone that sells on eBay will be integrated into Managed Payments by sometime in 2021.

So I guess going forward for the Canadian sellers who listed on dot com in the past will no longer have access to the "au gratis" listings allocation they could use with Flat Rate or Free shipping if there is no way for them to link their bank account for US funds? Another winfall for eBay in savings?
I'm confused by your question.
Do you mean that little oddity where our "free" dotCA listings were matched by the same number of dotCOM listings?
For example I could list 250 lots "free" in my Basic Store from dotCA and in loonies, then on dotCOM list another 250 lots in USD at no extra charge.
Those don't have anything to do with free or flat rate shipping, which is why I am confused.
Is eBay's windfall from charging for those dotCOM listings at full price?
Or is it your understanding that we would not be allowed to list on dotCOM if we are dotCA sellers?
That would be very awkward for Chinese sellers who register on eBayChina but sell on dotCOM or dotcoAU or dotDE.
Which would be most of them, I suspect.
I'm fascinated by whether anything we are subjected to will also affect our Chinese colleagues, who are virulently detested by a very large percentage of American sellers. (And not very popular with Canadian ones, for that matter.)

Unless things change and it becomes easier for Canadian sellers to list on dot com, it would be the matching part for listings on dot com that would go away. If that is the case maybe eBay would double the allotment for store owners on dot ca. It just sounded like that suddenly something that was no longer going to be available.
Sadly what works for some sellers does not work for others the way ebay is designed. For me to list on a site I have to have access to some sort of calculated shipping. Flat Rate or free shipping does not work.
Personally I find it interesting how the different eBay sites do or don't work together with all their unique rules and then becomes almost impossible for a seller to know all those rules/loopholes verbatim.

I agree that Flat Rate shipping doesn't work for Canadian sellers on dotCOM, with the exception of sellers who are able to use the forwarding services like chitchatexpress.
Any one selling bulky (over 2cm thick) products needs to have Calculated Shipping.
We each have our own business practices. One of the things that makes small businesses (and micro-businesses) fun for consumers is that we are all different.

I’m confused by your question as well. At this point there is no way to link our accounts to a US bank account but that doesn’t mean we can’t list on .com. As stated previously eBay will convert US funds to Canadian funds before being transferred to our bank accounts. A lot of sellers have never had US bank accounts so if we wanted to transfer US funds from our PP accounts they had to be converted anyway. Ideally those who want to will eventually be able to use a US bank account but that doesn’t mean that we can’t list on .com with MP.

I think @lotzofuniquegoodies is just wondering if Canadians with stores will continue to receive "double" the number of listings we pay for amidst all the other changes. If .COM is increasing theirs at every store level I imagine .CA will follow suit as we usually do, but we don't know if it will work the way it traditionally has.

Yes, you can list on dot com with a Canadian bank account. Well and good. But you will still be stuck paying the additional costs because of whatever floating exchange rate eBay to use and/or any losses incurred if you have to do some sort of a refund. I don't see that as a woo hoo bells and whistles plus. Also, there could be additional fees from your bank. Accounts do vary.

I never said that we should jump up and down about it.
You said that Canadian sellers would no longer have access to the free listings on .com and we will so your statement didn't make sense to me. If you meant that some sellers may have to pay more, that's different than not having access.

US sellers who moved to MP that were also listing on other country ebay platforms, had their foreign listings taken down. This was an unexpected consequence (at least to my seller friend).
There is currently no way for that seller (after a year of being on MP) to list on .ca. I had her experiment recently.
If a Seller is in Managed Payments they can (in theory) list on those sites that have Managed Payments up and running. Has Canada turned on the MP switch yet?

Another US seller I was speaking to was instructed that she too had to end and move her listings off of dot ca. If there is a way around this, she was not advised at the time. And she was not impressed by how long it was taking her to do so. Maybe some sort of tool for moving listings should have been considered in hindsight before forcing folks to have to move their listings would have been a smart move by eBay? I still have flashbacks from moving my listings from USD to CAD.

I would 'guess' that once .ca has MP set up, US sellers using that platform could list here.
But in August with the extra listings, there could less of a need to list on more than one platform anyway.

So, do you think that putting one silver Canadian quarter up for sale would gain me some time to clear my inventory?
