My experience has been different as my stuff is mostly geared towards USA Tr Pkt. Expedited Lite really worked for me with some repackaging techniques.  With creativity you can get 2 cassettes, 2 x 45s etc under 200 gr and lot them in pairs.

When I changed my listings to under 200 gram lots it also bumped up Tr Pkt USA sales. I'm in the process of changing my USA listings to under 250 gr lots and running a Promoted Listings trial.  It's really helping sell old stock.  Like most of us I'm slow in the summer period too but it's nice to move items that have been sitting around for a long time due to high domestic expedited charges for a couple of cassettes.

I would rather they just take a few dollars off the monthly subscription. With how overpriced the shipping supplies are compared to even consumer options like Staples, Dollarama, and Costco, the $70 coupon is really more like a $10-$20 coupon. It's absurd.

I really don't care what the value of the coupon pretends to be.

I usually buy 100 of the smallest poly envelopes with no bubble wrap for my shipments. And the empty box goes into my store of Useful Boxes for Putting Things In.

The advertised cost of the item minus the value of the coupon takes my price down to only the sales tax which is quite reasonable.

It's the bottom line that matters.

Yeah,  no shipping coupon here either.

It's been harder over the past year or so to get shipping supplies sent up to Canada (or purchased online).

Each supplier I've gone through either stops selling what I need to/in Canada or they stop selling altogether.

Ebay was a nice net..while it lasted.

It depends. I always ordered bubble mailers, paying only the tax (8 dollars). For such a box of 100 bubble mailers I would need  tp pay at least 60-70 dollars at Staples or Uline.

If we're talking about size 0 mailers, there are a few different places where you can get a box of 250 for around $75-$100 shipped before taxes.

Assuming you are registered for GST, you can get 100 for free with the shipping supply coupon, or 200 for about $27 ($97-$70 coupon).

For me personally, I buy them at Costco for $75 for 250. That means 200 has a prorated cost of $60. So the eBay supply coupon is worth $33 to me if I use them for 200 bubble mailers because instead of paying $60 at Costco, I pay $27 ($97-$70 coupon).

It varies by item. For example, the 8x6x4 boxes are $85 for 50 of them. That means I could buy 50 of them with my supply coupon for about $15 dollars. 50 of them at Staples costs $28. So my coupon in that scenario is only worth $13.

The wider point is that the kind of marketing they engage in with the supply coupon is offputting. If they want to give me a $20 credit for shipping supplies, just do that.

They might be better off partnering with somewhere like Staples and doing it that way. Staples stores are almost everywhere, and they already have the infastructure along with a wider variety of supplies. eBay sellers would also buy more supplies directly if they were appropriately priced, rather than inflated.

Ultimately, the program never made any sense to me. Is the purpose to make selling on eBay more accessible through providing shipping supplies? If that's the case, it's a failure because they aren't accessible at their price. Is the purpose to market eBay successfully by ensuring there is some level of standardization with packages going out useing clean supplies and the eBay branding? That's a failure as well, because no rational person is going to pay three or four times the price on supplies.

If it is just meant as a way to make some additional revenue directly off of sellers with no intention of creating value for the sellers, that is short sighted.

2 Major things need to be factored in when considering the Canadian coupon and its actual value. First a major portion is eaten up by the "free" shipping and secondly the lack of assortment when you compare the price breaks US sellers have access to.  The Canadian version of the store. At any time there are at most 5 or 6 items out of 35 under 35.00. Either stickers or the cards. If you only buy 1 item you are out 10.00 of that coupon.

With the US store there may be only 32 (averages between 30 and 40 products at any given time) (11 items priced under 35.00 usd) items listed but they all have multiple price breaks that would be better suited for sellers.  Sadly just how its always been when you compare the 2 choices.

Personally my belief of a chunk of "why" they started this program was to get the ebay branding out there...... people will use "free"(ish) stuff and it puts the ebay logo in front of the shipping stream and buyer.

Generally when I see the pile of packages awaiting pickup in my PO it is very rare that I see an ebay branded item.....

I get a good portion of my boxes for free from the "other" site. I just remove labels, turn inside out and retape. Reduce, reuse, recycle!!! 🤑 Customers don't care what it says on the box. Only that they got what they wanted inside the box!!!

I have not used one of those coupons in at least a year, it was overpriced. I can get better quality and larger qty for the same price or less at the local discount stores.

And since like many I downgraded my store when all the free listings started so I have a whole pile of eBay packaging sitting in the basement which I hope to use up before eBay fully kills their own platform...

I don't think Ebay will fully kill their platform, but I do believe Ebay Canada will be the first to go under if anything goes south.

i only use it for the ebay branded packaging tape because on the canadian ebay supplies store the tape cost 45.99$ for 12 and after 30$ discount it's cheaper than buy clear one at dollorama and it's a very good quality tape helps me to cover ugly boxes and old address when i recycle old enveloppe my customers likes to receive boxes with ebay branded tape.

Thanks Lotz,

  I received the coupon.

Sadly, I ordered my supplies from another source two days before the coupon arrived.

On the upside, I ordered shipping boxes from Ebay I don't normally see.
