As most of you likely already know the incompetent buffoon- a known bankrupt felon, conman, traitor and vile pile of garbage is planning on putting a blanket 25% tariff on Canada next week. (whether or not this actually goes into effect or not is anyones guess).
Either way, I am strategizing on ways to gain more Canadian and International buyers going forward and increasing my domestic pride.
As it stands my sales are like 65% American, 20% Canadian, 15% international.
I would like to boost Canadian to 30% and international to 25% and am seeking ways to do this. One of the things on my mind to aid in this would be to start selling in CAD and switch to the .CA website basically rounding my prices down by a hair in favor of a Canadian dollar price point. EXAMPLE: an avg product I sell is $25 USD and I would start selling it at $35 CAD instead. (rounding down from the converted $36.11 CAD to prefer the Canadian buyer)
Has anyone else on here done this and did it negatively impact your sales?
One of my worries is when I offer sale events or bulk discounts on listings that American buyers will no longer be able to access them since they might find my product while surfing .com instead of .ca. Currently I have noticed this issue with Canadian and International customers who arent able to get the bulk discounts or sales sometimes and I have no idea why. I can only suspect it is because they use .ca or a foreign ebay variant while im using .com currently.
Why doesnt ebay allow your sales/ discounts to traverse global reach no matter what ebay browser they are using? am I missing something here? Please assist me in this. I really want to make the transition.
I will make the jump to .ca in a heartbeat if I can clear up this issue.

BTW, I have NEVER quoted numbers or % regarding my statement that.CA isn't a priority with eBay> that was other members NOT me...so make sure YOU have your facts straight before making accusations..

Most buyers search with the default sort setting of “best match.” That setting's workings are a little murky, but I think it's a safe assumption that it's generally going to favour results in the buyer's geographical area. As for the issue of discounts, dunno.

As a random side note FYI for anyone considering discontinuing shipping to the USA and just sending to only Canada & Mexico, CP parcels do not get routed there through the USA. Transit time falls under anyone's guess and you are limited when it comes to services. At last word Canadian's have no issue with the country of Mexico. 😁
No, Canada Post mail does not have to go through the United States to get to Mexico. Canada Post delivers to Mexico directly.
Does this mean it is now called the MCA agreement?
According to the USMCA agreement, the de minimis threshold for shipments from the US and Canada to Mexico is $117 USD for customs duties and $50 USD for taxes; meaning goods valued at $50 or less can enter Mexico duty-free, while goods between $50 and $117 may be subject to a single tax rate.

.3) Watcher numbers do not display when using dot ca
Yes they do.
13.) Not the same options for payments. ((Missing Discover)
Discover cards are US only. They are not accepted by banks outside the USA. This might have a historical base in their start as a Sears card rather than a bank card.

re: 3. Watchers were not showing at the time I created the original post on ca. It has since been fixed how they display on both sites for any watchers.
re:13. The available options have been modified a few times in the last 12 months. Venmo was added for US sellers as a payment method back in June of 2024. Not available to/for Canadians. US sellers are able to use payout funds for making purchases. Canadian buyers cannot.
A few of the rest of the items on that list have been fixed but majority have not been touched. Currently working on a revised list. You can learn alot by doing random tests signed in to dot com. Should it have taken over 2 years to fix the country of origin issues with eBay labels on ca? Probably not.

Hi, You may have taken that year old reprint I posted back on March 1 out of context. It was a reprint of the latest most comprehensive list of differences that Lotz put together. You may have missed the disclaimer at the bottom.
Still, it's always nice to be noticed!
