Strike today in Vancouver - Are you still mailing?

I have been fortunate that the strike hasn't affected me that much up till now.  All of my US and International are being sent through Chit Chat.  75% of my buyers have been US and international.  Now I do have 2 to go out tomorrow destined for outside of BC.  Now there is a strike at the Richmond plant which I assume they would be going to.  I am going to send them a notice about the strike in Vancouver which will affect their shipment.

I just wanted to know other than advising people of possible delays are you shipping the same day as if there was no strike are you holding on to it for a day or 2?  Are you sending a notice?

Just a theory...

I'm working on the theory that stuff stored in trucks gets dealt with last. That fresh incoming stuff gets handled first.

So in my area, when the Mississauga sorting plants were closed Tuesday (going back to work on Wednesday) -- I waited until Wednesday to mail.

That package was processed as if there was no strike.

So if I was in Vancouver, if Vancouver starts back to work Tuesday, I'd mail Tuesday.

I live in Vancouver B.C. & I sent off 2 parcels today. There was no strike today. Not sure about Richmond. The Canada Post website is behind in listing where the strikes are. It mentions only Nov. 10th. There were strikes in B.C. & Quebec then. But as far as I know it isn't here now. But will check tomorrow morning to see if there is an update.

Today is a stat holiday for Canada Post in lieu of Remembrance Day; no mail is moving anywhere anyway.

The place to is see where the strikes are is CUPW.ca

The strikes do not effect retail postal outlets, because they have no Canada Post employees.

Canada Post follows the federal rules with November 12, 2018 being taken as Remembrance Day and post offices were closed. Most retail postal outlets follow provincial holiday schedules (so today was a working day for most).

Thanks, I think that is a good idea, I will have them addressed and just wait for the news tomorrow (Tues), if they are still out maybe I'll mail on Wed.

From an old coworker who works at the Richmond facility, normally any domestic mail is prioritized along with any international that CP has been renumerated for properly (ie EMS/UPU tracked packet). Everything else gets dumped into holding areas and is processed at their leisure (literally). If one wants to be politically incorrect about it, they specifically go out of their way to delay CCC. That might have gone out the window of late though.

Since everything is on a rotating basis I don't really see much point in delaying mailing. I've had things coming into and out of Canada during the rotating action with little to no delay. Until they walk out nationally and stay out then I don't see any point in delaying anything although the ebay dimension adds a Fear Factor vibe to everything doesn't it?

Mailed my two sales last week on Friday morning (rushed to get them mailed before long weekend), so hopefully they'd have both made it to the States before the strike... Neither of them were tracked ($25 and $40 sale) so I have no idea where they are lol. When I do mail something that's tracked though, usually they cross the border the same night or next morning, so fingers crossed. Most buyers don't leave feedback nowadays so it's hard to tell how fast/slow things are moving lately. I think only 2 out of my last 10 sales bothered to leave feedback.
