Mexico will send 10,000 troops to the border for security and allow the U.S. to assist in removal of cartels. They also agreed to new trade deals. There is some hope that Canada will follow suit.

seems like Trump is back peddling a bit to me.....maybe not excited by the prospect of a million US auto workers being laid off in a week. But good for Mexico. Still some hope for a similar one month delay for Canada. This border stuff where Canada is concerned is daft. Virtually nothing goes down to the US, but lots of drugs, guns and immigrants come up, especially now with all the round-ups of immigrants.
Anyway...putting toops on the border for Canada is not a bad idea, may stop some of that flow into Canada.
Trump also wants Canada to allow US banks in.......i say let them. Whoever is daft enough to put their money into one of them deserves to lose it and the US does allow Canadian banks to operate down there.

We should offer to put 20,000 beavers along the Can/US border or maybe we should suggest that the US start blocking the illegal exporting of weapons into Canada and it they don't we should apply 100% export tariffs on all of our Maple Syrup....they can't survive on Vermont supplies alone although I know that many Americans, especially in Red States prefer faux syrup (corn syrup).

But it's the beavers smuggling in the guns...

@intimewithmusic That made me laugh, much needed at this time.....

We'll see what happens with the call between Trump and Trudeau, later today...

I don't think Trump was expecting us to hit back like we did. Hopefully Trudeau allows him to have some sort of symbolic win and all this nonsense can end.

The Mexican president agreed to send enforcement to the border to try and stop illegal drugs getting into the States. That's why Trump's postponing this for a month there and claiming that he "won" in forcing Mexico's hand.
For Canada, this was never about the drugs. Less than 1% of fentanyl is entering the US from Canada, and the Canadian government announced a 1 billion+ effort to increase security at the border and that still wasn't enough for Trump. I don't know what Trudeau can say to Trump that would call off the tariffs aside from "we will become the 51st state".
It's also telling that the only Executive Order currently signed/posted is the one detailing tariffs between Canada and the USA. The ones for Mexico and China were seemingly never pushed through, which is why I'm not surprised the Mexico agreement got pushed back a month.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

There are three Executive Orders posted, one for each country. All posted at the same time.

Ah okay, my mistake, I missed those somehow. I swear they weren't there when I was reading the Canadian one on Saturday, but everythings a blur recently.

I didn't see them when I checked yesterday evening either. Someone must have forgotten to hit "submit" on the website 🙂

No problem, they appeared on Sunday and none of them are yet (as of 2 hours ago) showing on the Federal Registry site.

Trumptard will be back tracking tariff's on Canada sooner then later ,since the red states will get harder first on his Tariff's . He funtions at 3 to 5th. grade level and has very low IQ of all U.S. presdents . Had he talked about taking Greenland ,invading Panama and Tariff's on Canada and Mexico during the elections he would not have won .

Trump has talked about tariffs throughout the campaign and I'm talking about the 2016 campaign. He has actually been talking tariffs since the first time he almost ran for president back in the 90's. Maybe Canada was not specifically mentioned but it was also never specifically excluded.

He did talk about Tariff's on China is all we heard during his 2016 run. it was around early 1990 he talk about runing as independent . .
