The administration has pushed the tariff date back to March 1st. We can all breathe a sigh of relief while the political-types wrangle a deal out. Best of luck to us all. Stay positive everyone!

Thank you.
But upon reading the article:
"The tariff situation remained fluid on Friday and no decision is final until Trump makes a public announcement."

Aaaaaand the White House says tariffs are back on for tomorrow.

stop drinking the CBC Koolaid, Canada needs to secure the border and illegal immigrants , then this will be over. Pretty simple, but I do think also it pushes for regime change ... so a little short term pain to get the long term gain is fine with me.

Probably because Trump wants to see what/who he's up against in Canadian politics.
and...
*Will the Deminimus change with respect to the US Fed's ongoing review courtesy of Temu?
*Will eBay collect the duty/tariff as they do with the sales taxes and Vat?
*Will eBay charge the elevated FVF (March 1) on the duty/tariff (March 1) if they collect it at checkout?
*Will Canada Post go on strike in May?
Questions that seem to lead to more questions

Confirmed press secretary said Reuters statement was false. Tariffs to start tomorrow.

The source of the March 1st implementation of tariffs report was Reuters not CBC. CBC mentioned it but made it quite clear the source was a Reuters' report and had not been confirmed.
Fixing the border will make no difference to whether or not tariffs come. For one thing, the border is in pretty good shape and besides, it's not Canada's responsibility to protect the USA's border....that's their job...is the US making any effort to keep guns and drugs from coming into Canada? Big no. Border security was just Trump's excuse de jour.
Tariffs are coming because Trump hates globalization of trade and wants to bring manufacturing back to the US via using tariffs. It probably won't work as it will just cause a tariff war where everyone gets poorer, including the US. He tried this his first term but all his advisors talked him out of it. Now he just has yes-men and lackies around him who smile and nod regardless of what Trump does.
We'll know today if the tariffs are coming tomorrow as Trump is signing several executive orders later today.....we'll see if tariffs on Canada is one of them or not.

and for those who believe that Trump's proposed tariffs won't hurt the USA>>>
perhaps a good read would be to go back to the 1930's...
"How Trump's threatened tariffs echo a failed American trade policy of the 1930s">the Great Depression...

Who are we securing the border against?
Americans fleeing the Trump regime?
We get fentanyl and guns smuggled from the USA, not vice versa.

Only thing that can save Canadian ebay sellers if the tariffs come is the $800 US Deminimus exemption for US importers will continue? Even that is hard to get clarification on.

My guess would be that the 800$ will stand, because they will go after the big guys.
But at this point... it's impossible to say, really. Quite the opposite of stability in international politics right now.

Tariffs encompass Industries, Manufacturers, Automotive Parts & accessories, Energy, Gas & Oil, Dairy, Fisheries,Corporations that provide goods to Retailers and businesses that supply to their customers...
Are you one of those? Are you a Supplier an Importer/Exporter?
eBay sellers are like minnows in a big sea ... and are not Commodities that are going to provide and/or contribute much to any Federal Governments' Financial Picture.

i don't think an executive order from Trump can change the de minimus. It would take an act of Congress to do it. Trump will pressure and threaten Republicans in Congress to pass a change in de minimus but that will take time
It's very unclear right now what tomorrow's tariffs are on. Trump rambled all over the place, like senile people do. He mentioned everything, then specifically mentioned metals. Oil may get an exemption....blah blah blah.
Until the legal document is signed by DT we will not really know what is coming and exactly when.
Trump is also threatening the EU with tariffs. If they come in then most of the stuff that the US imports will have tariffs on it. And prices will rise literaly overnight in the US on these imported goods. The US public is going to love their new prez..
