USPS and Shipping to Canada

I just bought an item from the States and the seller told me that it looks like USPS is not shipping to Canada.

Does anyone know anything about that?

No but that would explain why my package is stuck at usps since March 30

What mail service were they going to use?

No new update for Canada since 3-25-20  (USPS sorts the list in update order) when signature was dropped for most incoming mail.

In doing a search at USPS I'm not seeing anything recent about blocking Canada. Announcement attached is April 2nd. And nothing displays in various google searches.

Possibly a seller who is just being cautious about shipping anything out of Continental USA.

PS. A few more current  details here.

For many countries the biggest issue with Intl. mailing is lack of flights.

Re: USPS and Shipping to Canada

I'm not sure but probably First Class International.

When I checked again I could see that my first PP payment didn't go through even though there was no indication that it didn't "take."

I just paid again so I'll see what happens now,  I'm not sure what the seller sees but her message says that there are no shipping services available to my address.

Re: USPS and Shipping to Canada

I've been shipping to the States regularly and all have gone as usual, but my last shipment has the notification "ORIGIN POST IS PREPARING SHIPMENT".

It looks like they may be using a forwarder like a GSP type thing but it's still being processed.

As of late my shipments out of Calgary to the USA (Tracked/Expedited) have been missing the Origin scan when I've watched the agent scan as I dropped off. Then no scan in Richmond. Next scans showing are when it reaches either LAX or SF for processing.  Most recent shipment even shows ON TIME FOR SCHEDULED DELIVERY. Small packet air shipments are now getting scanned 50% of the time vs the past 8 or 9 out of 10 when they reach the USA. Partial tracking example below.

Re: USPS and Shipping to Canada

Purchased something on March 31/20 from someone in California USA and it arrived today April 6/20. International first class.  No problem for me.

Purchased another item on Mar 31/20 and it is going Global shipping and today it is leaving today from Kentucky to Canada.

However, I heard on the radio today that USPS is losing a lot of money right now and they may shut USPS down.  Has anyone got more info on this?

Re: USPS and Shipping to Canada

Trump has said he wants to close it down*, and many Republicans agree.

It was the Republicans who set up the bookkeeping on pensions in such a way that the USPS does not appear to be self- sufficient and even profitable.

They made pensions that would not be payable for decades into current liabilities.

*Apparently because Amazon uses USPS for most deliveries and AZ is owned by Jeff Bezos and Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post and the Washington Post does not support Trump.
