What will happen?

I sold a pair of Nike shoes that haven't been shipped to me yet from the Nike website. I managed to sell them on eBay for the asking price. The only issue is that it says I have to ship within 3 business days despite the fact that I mention in the listing that it's a "pre-order item." I've been an eBay seller for a couple of months selling Pokemon cards and I never had an issue with any buyer. What will happen from thereon?

TL;DR: I sold a pre-order item and I left it at "3 business days" and I'm not sure what will happen from thereon.

EDIT: I tried to contact the buyer via eBay messages but it says I can't message them due to being an "authentication centre"

Never sell anything you do not have in your hands.

Cancel the order and refund your buyer. Take the hit as a reminder to never EVER sell anything you don't have in your hot little hands.

I'm afraid if I cancel the order, they'll leave negative feedback since I cancelled the order. Is there any other solution other than cancelling the order? What if I made a label and filled in the tracking number there?

It could take another week or two to get the shoes from Nike. You can't wait that long to ship. Send them a message apologizing, and that is if you don't hear from them before the shipping deadline you'll have to cancel the order. You can always leave a follow up if they leave NFB noting they didn't respond to your communication.

I ordered an item from Germany that was supposed to be shipped within 3 days.

Nearly three weeks went by and the item was not shipped.  I had contacted the buyer

several times with no reply.  He finally answered and apologized for the item not

being in stock and stated it was in transit to him.  I asked to cancel the order right away and

and have not dealt with the seller since.  I did message him nicely that he should not be selling any

items that he does not have in stock.  He lost a future customer.

If you go to the buyer's feedback page, you should be able to message them from there.

Once you receive the shoes, you will have to send them to the ebay authenticate center so even then you won't be sending the shoes directly to the buyer so it could take a while for them to receive them. When you click on the sold item and then order details, what is the estimated delivery date?  Chances are that you won't be able to meet that so I  have to agree with others that it would be best to contact the buyer, explain what happened and apologize that you have to cancel the order as you can't meet the delivery date. Admit that you made a mistake it is less likely that the buyer will react negatively.  It's possible that they will give you a negative but what do you think will happen if they don't receive the shoes by the eta?

You really need to change your shipping methods on at least some of your listings.  You have UPS express listed for the US and ebay is giving an eta of 3-5 business days. Considering you have a 3 day handling time, it's unlikely that they will receive something that quickly..I would change it to a generic service such as standard or economy shipping to the US.  Then it gives you a longer arrival window and you can use whichever method you want to ship the item.

As suggested, take your lumps now. This is a no win and it will just get worse. Selling something then trying to fulfill after from outside sources is risky stuff.

What part of that "solution" is not a lie?

Nope, you gambled and you lost.

For what it's worth, eBay does not use feedback to assess your account.

EBay DOES give Defects for Item Not Received Disputes which are not promptly settled (refunded), for cancelled sales, and for half a dozen other reasons that you may already have walked into.

Defects can mean restrictions on the number and value of future listings, higher fees, and closed selling accounts.

Cancel as Out of Stock. Take the Defect. Apologize to the buyer giving the reason for the cancellation. Refund the buyer with more apologies.

Hope that he does not leave negative feedback, but if he does, accept it like an adult as being your own mistake .

And don't sell anything you don't already have ready to ship.

From what I see in listings, there are no confirmed sales showing, just a pending offer.  If this is just at the offer stage, decline it and cancel the listing until you have this figured out correctly and figured out if it will even work as you are relying on Nike and Ebay verification.
