What can I do when a seller retracs an auction whitout agreement of a buyer, 2 to 3 hours of ending

First of all, excuse my English, it is not my native tongue.

I have been waiting a week for a limoge set , 1 large platter and 8 inch plates,

and the buyer stop the sell, a couple of hours before ending with no apparent reason.

It is really deceiving to wait and oops, the bidding is off

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do the seller can end the listing if they want.

However the good news is they can only do it once a year for FREE after that eBay charges them a service fee for doing so if the item had bids.

When you see something that you really really want, put a 'spacesaver' bid on it immediately.

That's a low bid that keeps you in the running but is less than you are willing to pay.

If the seller wants to end the auction (maybe the cat knocked the platter off the shelf?) he has to end your bid first, or you win at that low bid. But he doesn't have to tell you why.

Some new (or nervous) sellers will end an auction early because they think there is no interest. This is foolish because many buyers will not bid until the last few moments of the auction. Also new sellers are often approached by sneaky members who make an offer on an item that appears to have little interest and persuade him to sell at a much lower price than could have happened if the auction were allowed to run its course.

That's exactly what happened to me.

I bid on a vintage Hot Wheels 1967 carrying case, with 15 red line vintage hot wheels, which all needed restoration, which is what I do.

The surprizing thing was I was the only bidder, and I won the auction. I was amazed at how cheap I got it for.

After I won I sent a message to the seller for the total including shipping. All of a sudden I get a response that the seller forgot he had already sold the item! He told me e-bay had mistakenly put the item up for auction!

So, I was pretty upset. I checked through all of his prior sales, and the item was not listed among the items he had sold.

I confronted him with that info, then he suddenly remembers that he didn't sell it on e-bay, he sold it privately.

He snet me a message wanting me to agree to cancel the sale!? Ya right!

So, I selected the "no" box.

I sent a few heated messages to this...person, then I felt bad, and apologized, asking him to try to put himself in my shoes. I still believed he had scammed me, because the item went so cheap.I even went  so far as to offer to actually go ahead and agree to cancel, so he wouldn't get a bad feedback.

So he messages me back asking me to actually go ahead and send him the full payment, and he would be able to scratch the unfavourable "cancelled" or, not cancelled off his feedback, then he would send me a full refund!!!

Ya, sure thing Al Capone!

So, I apologized even though this clown screwed the entire thing up - he doesn't acknowledge my apology - doesn't offer any apology of his ownm, but wants me to pay for the item, so his feedback won't suffer!!!

Not gonna happen. I need to wait seven days after the end of the auction before I can leave negative feedback, but I am determined to go ahead and leave him a negative feedback.

If any seller deserves it, it's this guy.

I wonder how he can walk wearing those huge shiny red clown shoes!

Can e-bay make opening a case any more impossible?

I want to complain about this seller, however my issue isn't listed as one of the options.

There is a section for opening a case that isn't listed...so I click the tab, which redirects me to open a case not listed, which redirects me to open a case that's not listed, which...ya, on and on!

Here's what we found for "Open an item not as described case" Previouspage ]

If you didn't receive an item you paid for, or the item doesn't match what was described in the listing, you should contact the seller by clicking the Ask a question link in the listing.

If you and the seller can't come to an agreement, open a case in our Resolution Centre.

So, I click "open a case in our resolution center, then I get this...

Nice job e-bay.

I get the message..".we don't want to hear your problems, just leave our multiple item sellers alone, and get on with being ripped off at their whim"

I'm gonna look at Amazon before e-bay for any future items I may want from now on. I know it won't matter a fleas fart to e-bay, but it will make me feel better.

Anyone old enough to remember the good old days when companies treated their customers as though they wanted them to keep coming back?

Re: What can I do when a seller retracs an auction whitout agreement of a buyer, 2 to 3 hours of end

The exact same thing happened to me. I won an auction on a retired piece I had been wanting and waiting for. I was so excited that I told everyone. A full 24 hours after I won the auction the seller emailed me saying that he didn't have the item and that it was an error on the Ebay re-listing program.  I too looked through his prior sales to see if this item was sold before and it was not!

I complained and had to wait the full 7 days to leave negative feedback but I make absolutely sure that I did!

The seller emailed me back whining about his health and begging me to change the feedback as he needed to make a living from Ebay to pay for meds???

Well I can be sympathetic but we all have our stories and if you need to make a living then in my opinion you should be a little more caring and careful to those you pay good money for your items, especially since I did not even get an apology.

Thank you for letting me vent!

Gloria
