Folks, it's been awhile. Never too late for good cheer, right?
01-21-2013 02:23 AM
We're experiencing minus (-30) degrees plus the windchill factor ... very, very cold here!!!! I guess it's like yours there (((Nan)))
(((Susan))) ouch! The cream is ready ... papers are filed ... now we wait ... they claim it will be reviewed and authorized (bonified! LOL) in less than 3 months ... but with my patience level ... that's a long, long time. LOL
Marian: time with your son is precious ... enjoy!
Claire: I would love spring to arrive myself. LOL I could do without winter all together.
LOL @ Sherri ... Portage & Main???? LOL Hope you do get to travel the Panama Canal ... that would be cool, for sure.
The "boys" (that is; Alex & Paul) went out with the shovels and the snow blower today to get the driveway cleared. Josh is getting ready for his exams next week, but he did make time to put together some chocolate chip cookies for everyone ... so hot chocolate & chocolate chip cookies were the treat for our evening. [I know, we're kinda boring! LOL]
I'm still working on all the year end paperwork stuff ... but took the day off again ... not been feeling on top of it physically for the last few days.
Have a fantabulous day (((((((((((((((((((everyone)))))))))))))))))
I wish you:
Smiles when sadness invades you.
Confidence when you have doubts.
Comfort when you need it most.
Friends to light up your life.
Rainbows to climb up to the heavens on.

Good morning Marian and all 🙂
Jannie, was talking to one of my aunts this morning, she said the temp was -31 with windchill of -45 currently. ( and not a sunflower blowing in the wind, LOL!)
Maybe I misread the sign blowing by, and it really said YOU ARE NOW ENTERING SIBERIA via PORTAGE AND MAIN 😉
Seriously, it's cold here, but not as cold as you've got it. ( waiting for Nan to check in, ha!!)
Last week it was 12 +. Lost most of our last huge dump of snow; making room for the next.
01-21-2013 08:34 AM
Good sunny Monday morning!
Same here Sherry! Last week was so mild that most of the snow we had melted, this morning it's -12C and it will get colder for Wednesday and Thursday. Brrr...will be staying home where it's nice and warm, lol.
01-21-2013 09:01 AM
Morning, Claire 🙂
-20 here, windchill -26. I just went out to fill the bride elders, ( ok, thanks spellcheck, I actually wrote BIRD FEEDERS, ya moron! 😉 ) and heard what sounded like an explosion beneath the ice on the lake. Sometimes it sounds like a gunshot when the ice cracks or has other such issues in the sudden cold. Scary sounding, actually!
How's your wee angel?
01-21-2013 09:54 AM
Hi Sherry!
The wee girl has just turned 13 months but she's not walking yet (her mother started walking when she was 14 months) no big rush to get into more trouble, lol.
I just checked the thermometer and it is actually -15C. 😞
01-21-2013 03:19 PM
Yes, with the wind-chill ... it's still around minus (-45) here at the moment. OIY!
Was going to ship off some pails of cream today ... but with this cold ... it would surely freeze and then would not be what the customer wanted at all. LOL
Have a fantabulous day! ((((((((((((((((((everyone)))))))))))))))))
I wish you:
Smiles when sadness invades you.
Confidence when you have doubts.
Comfort when you need it most.

Good Night & Good Morning!
How's everyone today?
We're still experiencing the cold ... very cold ... weather. Hoping it will warm up soon.
I wish you:
Smiles when sadness invades you.
Confidence when you have doubts.
Comfort when you need it most.
Friends to light up your life.
Rainbows to climb up to the heavens on.

Good morning Marian and all 🙂
Jannie, you've still got us beat, -26 windchill -36, and colder into ottawa. DD's coming here today with the babe, to escape 😉 I made a big pan of Mac and cheese last night, so, with the fire on, and comfort food in the oven, we will be happily well-fed and well-warmed, not to mention well-entertained 😉 Claire, my wee guy will be 13 months this week, not walking either, but close! My gosh, it's hard to believe Christmas and his birthday are already nearly a month past!
01-23-2013 07:44 AM
A chilly good morning to all. It's -28 here in to with the windchill. It was warm here last week too.
Claire, my sister and I were premature and didn't walk until we were 2 years old! It sounds like your little GD is just thriving. How do your daughter and her husband like Toronto? To be honest, I didn't much care for the city when I first moved here but I like it now. Toronto takes some getting used to.
I moved to TO after I finished my education because that's where the jobs were.
We are losing our neighbourhoods here in the city. Every single neighbourhood is beginning to look the same as the big merchants move in and replace the owner-operated businesses, many with an ethnic flavour. Starbucks, Tim Horton's, Roots, Shopper's Drug mart and so on. I try hard to patronize local businesses but the shops around where I live are extremely expensive.
I don't think homemade chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate are boring, Jannie. Sounds wonderful to me!
I hope you have a good time in Panama, Sherry. Make sure you get a hat!
Hello to Marian and Quinn. A little alone time makes together time all that much better. My DH and I always do a few things separately while on vacation.
Off to feed the dog and start another load of church work. Good thing Jesus didn't have a synogogue to run. He would have never had time for the Sermon on the Mount.
01-23-2013 07:46 AM
Good Morning, another cold morning. But that's O'K; I've got lots of indoor things to do.
Hope you all have a great day. I am very jealous of those heading south 😉
01-23-2013 09:00 AM
Good morning everyone!
It's -25C right now, not sure what it is with the windshield but one thing I know is that I am staying home for the next two days, lol.
Susan, they both love the area where they are living but are not planning to stay in TO long term. SIL works for Pratt Whitney and he's hoping to transfer back here in a few years. That would make me very happy. 🙂
Stay warm!!!
01-23-2013 09:08 AM
Good morning Susan and Nan 🙂
Colder out now than it was @ 5 a.m. !
Susan I would be so unhappy living in Toronto, I'm sure! Where do you find any 'nature' at all?!
i know millions of people can't be all wrong, but..but !! 😉
True story - years ago I raced to Toronto to meet my sister's new baby. She's not home when we get there, so I made a coffee and went out and sat on her front step. Moments later, the neighbors arrive home, and pile out of their van. They are literally inches away from me, and I waved and said hello. I get a shocked glare, and no response, in return. Later on, I ask Sis, what's up with your neighbors?
She replies, 'what neighbors, we've never met any since we've been here'. My turn to be shocked; I was so naive I presumed they knew 'Auntie' was coming, and they didn't even know my SISTER'S' name let alone her out-of-town family! According to my very outgoing sister, they don't 'neighbour' much in Toronto. Luckily, they subsequently moved to Aurora, and have wonderful back-door style neighbors. (From who do you borrow a cup of sugar from in Toronto? (and run over in your housecoat to pick it up;)
Nan, while I am looking forward to our vacation, if I had my own way I would vacation right here IN my own house, and not have toil and travel elsewhere to do it! I so hate travel and airlines and cattle lines at the airport and 10 'accost'rs' all trying to grab your baggage from you at the same time to get your tip while you are waiting for the charter's valet service to do it as part of your pkg!
(I'll make you a deal Nan. - ticket to Panama, ( double luggage allowance with first class) , in exchange for a case of jam - MY CHOICE! 😉 )
01-23-2013 09:22 AM
Hi Claire, didn't see you!
I didn't realize your family was not nearby to you! I hope you get to see your wee angel frequently!! I will be heartbroken when time some comes for my DD to make a move with job advancement in the future, but I am expecting it 😕

Sherry, I was surprised by the amount of green spaces found in TO. Our daughter lives within walking distance of High Park and the beach, every time we visit, we go for long walks, I find it quite pleasant. They are also within walking distance of Roncesvalles with it's many specialty shops. 🙂
01-23-2013 10:41 AM
Warming up, at least a little ... it's minus (-23) before the windchill is added in.
Anytime we made it in to Toronto ... I always went to Kensington Market and (oh can't think of the name of it right now .. Sheesh!) I think it was the St. Lawrence Market, but not 100%certain.
Had friends that lived out by Hyde Park and we lived for a time off Browns Line right across from the Marie Curtis park which is right on the lake. Surprising amount of green space in TO ... but ... I do prefer living out of a "city" area.
Some of the cities in Europe plan their green spaces quite well and they are beautiful ... it's still nicer in the country. LOL
Have a fantabulous day, (((((((((((((((((((everyone))))))))))))))))))

Jannie, last year, St. Lawrence market was named world's best food market by National Geographic. My daughter didn't agree, she says that Montreal's Jean Talon market is better.
I was at St. Lawrence last summer and it is HUGE!
