And the next hassle with the MP changeover is: My Fees weren't paid this month

i've had a Paypal Billing Agreement with ebay for over a decade.  Like clockwork my fees come out of my Paypal account on the 30th of the month.  But not on June 30.  I was enrolled in MP on the 28th of June.  Did MP cancel my existing Billing Agreement without informing me?

Today i got a 'friendly reminder' from Global Collections that my bill is passed due.   I called a MP specialist today about another isssue and was on the phone with him for 45 minutes.  He didn't even know why my June 30 fees weren't paid....and yes there's plenty of money in my PP account to cover the fees.

Today i set up Paypal as my Automatic Payment Method for MP, via another Paypal Billing Agreement.

So what do i do?  Do i make a one time payment of my overdue fees?......i was told you should never do that around the time your fees are scheduled to come out automatically.  Do i wait and hope i don't get penalized for not paying?

Seems one department of ebay has no clue what the others are doing...

And the next hassle with the MP changeover is: My Fees weren't paid this month

I've had a PayPal billing agreement for over a decade as well, on my account with mid-month billing date the funds were taken on the 29th, 30th, 31st, 1st, 2nd and rarely but it has happened on the 3rd.

eBay did not cancel your billing agreement, your last invoice for the period you were not yet using Managed Payments will still come out from your PayPal account so just wait until they take it and make sure you have the money (or backup cc/bank) ready for it. DO NOT make a one-time payment, if you do you will probably end up with a double payment.

A message from "Global Collections" are you positive that was from eBay? Sounds like a scam phishing email to me.

The Automatic Billing agreement you just set up is your BACKUP funding source, under MP fees are deducted from current sales, this now includes more than just FVF's it includes Store fees, Listing fees and even shipping labels if you buy them from eBay and choose to use pending funds.

In the normal course of events the backup funding source (PayPal) will never be used.

Now that you are enrolled and activated in Managed Payments the first thing you should do is to  set your Payout frequency to either Daily (Mon-Fri) or weekly (Tuesday). I had a quick look at your activity, I highly recommend using weekly Payouts, you can switch at any time and as often as you like so if you did make a big sale and wanted the funds a few days faster you can still do that but initially at least it will be less confusing if you go with Weekly (I think the default is Daily) with even less chance your backup funding method will be used.

FYI - Weekly Payouts are done Tuesday morning, they never miss (if you have funds available for a payout), depending on your bank it can arrive there the same day, the next day or several days later. I use an account with Simplii and my funds are ALWAYS in my account by 5:00pm on Tuesday, never later since September 2020. Some sellers report waiting for 3 - 4 days, mostly they end up being credit union accounts and recently some reports about RBC accounts.

One other thing, over the past couple of days there has been a significant increase in glitches on eBay, today especially has been bad ones that are affecting search and things that relate to buyers more than the behind the scene stuff that normally gets most of the glitch action. There are so many upgrades, redesigns and new systems all being rolled out worldwide it's actually not much of surprise. This stuff doesn't happen with a single flip of a switch and keeping it all working during the transition isn't an easy task given the size of eBay.

yes the email was definitely from Ebay Global Collections...not phishing.

Things may have changed since you were enrolled in MP.  After talking to a specialist today, there are 2 phases to the enrollment.  Phase 1, which i am in now means that i am still receiving normal invoices, like before, but the one generated on July 16 will be the final one.   During this phase i CAN use Paypal as a back up funding souce or as my Automatic Payment Method.

After July 16 i will be in phase 2.  At that point fees will start being deducted directly from each sale that comes in (for now they are NOT being deducted, i will get the full amount transferred to my bank account and the fee portion goes on my invoice, as normal).  Once in phase 2  i can no longer use Paypal as an Automatic Funding Source, just credit cards and bank accounts.

As i said in my first post, the specialist did not understand why my payment did not come out of my Paypal account on June 30, as it should have.  My guess is that when i was enrolled in MP this deactivated my Paypal Billing Agreement and nobody told me.

So i'm left with my orginal question.   What do i do about the overdue amount?

I understand the current transition process, my last PayPal selling id I have was converted on the 28th just like yours. One difference is that my billing period for that is end of the month so my invoice For June will be taken from my PayPal account  in mid-July.

Regarding your "overdue amount", does this amount match your June 15th invoice total?

Overdue account, your June Invoice from the 15th isn't technically "overdue" until 30 days after the billing date.

eBay doesn't normally turn accounts over to collection for at least several months and if it was sent to collections your account would be seriously restricted or completely frozen when that happened.

I found this thread from 2018

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/What-in-the-world-Email-from-quot-Ebay-Collections-quot/td-p/2...

A huge batch of these notices were sent out then in error, skimming through the VERY long thread I found a few references to a previous and similar event.

As I mentioned, it's been a super glitchy day at eBay!

yes the overdue amount is the amount of my June 15 invoice, it just wasn't taken out of my Paypal account on the 30th, like i expected and as has been happening for a decade now.  It's good to know that it's not technically overdue until July 15.

But i still don't know what to do about it.  Do i just wait for July 15 and hope it automatically comes out of my Paypal account via the new Paypal Billing Agreement i set up in Managed Payments today?  Or do i do a voluntary one time payment myself and hope that doesn't screw up the automatic payment system like i've heard happen.

I'm tired of calling CS to ask questions like this as it's rare to get someone who really knows what's going on.

Just wait!

If you want, gop to PayPal, click the gear in the top right for Settings then the Payments Tab and then Manage Automatic Payments. You should see a bunch (or a couple, oir at least one but maybe two since you did a new one) of authorizations for eBay, click on those and you'll see if it's active and then the history. You'll be able to tell if the old authorization is still active.

I have a big pile of eBay authorizations because I use multiple selling accounts, double that because the old ones are there plus the new ones for Managed Payments. I also have other eBay and non-eBay related subscriptions so my list of authorizations is quite long.

My guess is that once the glitchfest is under control eBay will dip in for their fees, might not be for a few days.

I'll eventually put this in my running saga but we're in somewhat similar situations, this is what my account is like today:

-my MP payments account is -335.01 (this is for the store subscription etc since June 14, there is enough $$ in processing mode to cover it).

-the date of my "pre-MP" fees was due on July 1st, now it has the June 1-14 bill added and says it is now due August 1st, nothing got paid.

Today's a crazy day (including 2nd COVID Shot yayyy... so when I have time I'll call in and see what it all means.

I haven't gotten any warnings etc about being overdue so far.....

i think the warning i got from Global Collections was because i didn't have an automatic payment method in place more than because i was 1 day late paying my bill.......i am still not sure why it wasn't paid.

I still think it is because when you get enrolled in MP your existing billing agreement with Paypal is immediately canceled   Not knowing this  ( you'd think they'd tell you about a detail like that) and not really understanding MP yet, i saw no reason to add Paypal as my Automatic Payment Method to MP.  After being on the phone it was impressed upon me that  it is in fact extremely important (another detail you'd think they'd make clear at the time of enrollment into MP).

So for now i'm going to do nothing and see what happens.  It's fun that there is no way to respond to an email from Global Collections.  No way to explain, make them aware of a situation they should already be aware of or clear up a frak up on their part.  Cool.

Well I did have PAYPAL "re-setup" but it did not use it, it just accumulated more on top of the "June" bill due July 1 and put August 1 as the new due date......

Don’t forget that Thursday was a holiday. That may have messed things up a bit, too. I’d wait until next week before getting too fussed.
