The long timers here may recall the saga of my poor old bedraggled Canon SD700 reaching milestones of 100,000 pictures, 125,000 and 150,000 milestones.
Despite its signs of age (much like me many days), the poor power button is half broke but it still turns on and off when needed, the actual picture taking button works fine if it is warm, it appears that I have to set the date and time now often/everytime? I go to use it, but despite all that it keeps on taking pictures!
Today it has reached the 175,000 pictures mark!
I found the last update and it was in 2021, almost to the day, so I'm only doing about 8,250 pictures a year. If you'd have asked me I would have said I take more than that each year, I guess it just seems like it!
I don't know for sure if it'll make the 200,000 mark but time will tell!

Does that model have one of those little coin cell batteries to maintain the settings? If so, you might need to change it.

I did probably more than 200.000 pics with my Olympus C-5050. Broke 3 already - now working with 4th one. It has F 1.8 aperture and the close-ups look like made with a flatbed scanner.
Here one more pic - funny - showing Washington State belonging to Canada (1849). Look at the quality of the photo!

@flipistics nope it must have a permanent short term memory holder, interestingly it's still remembering the last number taken, ie the image number is still remembered, it's only losing the date after it sits for a while without being used, I'll just have to take pictures more frequently!

Just be grateful your camera became the go to out after the film era with processing required!! 😮 That would definitely slow down the listing process!!! Oye!!

@lotzofuniquegoodies it was a MONSTER step up from the Sony Mavica that I was using before, it put the pictures onto a floppy disk, that's how you moved them onto the computer then the internet (I had to have my own website just to host the extra pictures in those days) It was an onerous process and the floppys kept failing after being used for a while... I don't miss those days!!!!

Stand alone cameras are the way to go, because you can set up a tripod or overhead mount and use a remote. I can photograph hundreds of items in an afternoon if needed.
With that said, smartphones are finally at a point where you don't need to pay $1500-$2000 to get a smartphone with a good enough camera for business purposes. Something like the Google Pixel is always marked down and on sale. I started listing more heavily in maybe 2018, and I didn't feel phone cameras were close enough. I find myself using my phone more and more these days when I have one quick thing to list that doesn't fit into my assembly line.

I still use camera to pc for moving pictures. Only used scanning items a few times. Too much of pita so gave it up. I do remember going to a concert ages ago with my first digital camera (smart media disk) and being warned by security that was verboten. I was 100 feet from the stage at the time. Now when someone goes to a concert the first thing they do is pull out their cell.
Hard to believe at 1 time this was all the tech of the day:

When I purchased my first Mavica in 1999 that was a noticeable portion against my annual non-internet sales, at that time (the internet was "new" and my internet sales were zero at that time). It presented a difficult choice, divert advertising money to the "new internet" world or not..... in the end I made a good choice but it was not a simple one to make at that time....
