Automatic relist 8 times, new feature?

I listed a couple of items this morning, and found this on the listing form,

Automatically relist this item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell. Fees may apply for each relist.

Does this mean that we can only relist automatically 8 times now?

I didn't check the box, so I am hoping that doesn't mean it won't automatically relist.

If so, this would be another ‘improvement’ that no one has for and no one wants.

On dotCOM, yes it would seem that a seller can

"Automatically relist this item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell. Fees may apply for each relist" .

However, on dotCA , it is still

"Automatically relist this item up to 2 times if it doesn't sell. Fees may apply for each relist."

Or you could use Good Til Cancelled to automatically relist indefinitely.

EBay will add a Not to your Active List when a GTC item has not sold for 16 months.

Free.

So what is the benefit?

Hmmmm. A seller who uses this option doesn't have slowmoving items up for years?

Just sold a book that had been listed for about two years.

A very old option -- if you don't check the box nothing happens.

I always thought it was something aimed at sellers using auctions.

Although I suppose you could consider it to be GTC lite for BIN. For example, you could have your BIN start and end every week and perhaps increase exposure to those buyers who look for "newly listed" or "ending soonest" listings. Useful if you have a lot of unused "free" listings.

Not so sure about the higher number of 8 times -- seems a bit high versus the old 2 times. Or even better -- let the seller pick how many times.
