Buyer claim Tablet not received but buy items related to it after

Hi everyone,

I'm new on ebay selling and I'm learning the hard way about shipping without a signature confirmation for order over 250$. I've sold a tablet Asus TF201 for over 250$ and then the buyer claim the item not received even when the tracking number show delivered. Well now I know without a signature confirmation I'm in fault.... the buyer won automatically the case. I've tried to communicate with the buyer but no answer, only a ebay claim then silence.

Some day after and several emails, I still don't have any answer, maybe the buyer is on vacation. Well I decide to check the feedback on his account and it happens that the buyer got fresh feedback. I click on item number and what a surprise! He bought a case protector for a Asus TF201 a day after my tracking number show delivered. The second feedback is for a screen protector for TF201, both item are related to the tablet he bought to me!

I've reported this situation to ebay and I'm waiting for an answer at this moment.

no signature is essentially permission to  'dump and run' versus with signature ($1.50-2.50) your getting ' to the door service(some doors not easy to get to - apartments ect), and if buyers not home (or carrier cant get to the door (security)) it guarantees either scheduled redelivery or card notice left for pickup'... pretty good deal for a buck n a half.

I am not positive but I think you can still get $250 back from CP if you fight hard ..

It's possible mail fraud and PayPal is not ultimate authority.

Either person received it and abused the protection. = Fraud.

Or mailman kept the item and marked as delivered. = Fraud.

Police may not be very willing to do paperwork for $400 but ask them if they would give your buyer a call and have a patrol officer in area to ring a doorbell and ask about it and subsequent purchase of accessories. If there is no formal charges and easy way out, the laptop may just suddenly show up.

I live in Canada and the buyer in USA, I don't know if I can call police for this. The two items he bought right after claiming not received is for me a proof that he actually have it in hand. This tablet is no more in store. Well I still have the S/N and the tablet is still linked on my Google account. Maybe Google or Asus can do something for a situation like this.

I've been told to try the insurance with CP but for now the buyer still haven't said a word about if he really received it or not, I only have a claim on ebay. So I don't know if this can work.

I hate the fact that I had an apps installed for in case my tablet got stolen but I removed everything from it because I was selling it.

Telephone Canada Post and try for the insurance claim. If you don't ask they can't say yes. Mention the possibility of fraud and ask how USPS postal inspectors can be contacted. Those guys are notorious for going after mail fraud.

Because the item was marked delivered you may not have success with the insurance claim. But do it anyway as your duty to keep fraudsters off balance (and possibly in jail).

Yes it's fishy he bought items related afterwards but the buyer can easily say they purchased it somwhere else. If you were going to follow some of the suggestions here it'd be a beautiful thing if you had the serial number for the item,  Even then police can't search the residence

It's wishful thinking but possibly the buyer would admit to having a tablet and be dumb enough to allow the officers to see it at which point they can match the serial number, I believe without any proof the tablet is the same one you had you can't do anything unless they confess.

For Canadian sellers  the Paypal number for signature confirmation is $325 in Canadian dollars,  and that includes the shipping cost.

Recently verified on Paypal site

This number is a remnant from the days that the Canadian dollar was worth about $1.40 Canadian for  one dollar US.

The buyers own words a serious us federal crime of usps mail theft has occurred?, assume buyer is being honest (even if not)  file for mail theft on usps site(link below) then call his/her local police dept,  tell them what happened, give buyers contact info ect..., get a incident#, document everything. Buyer maybe a repeat offender, or honest so let US authorities decide. Documentation may help with CP insurance claim.

Browser glitch... lost all my reply text ... sorry for my last post.

I will try with PostCanada for sure after I got an answer from ebay. I did the "appeal a case" and told my story to ebay about this situation. Thanks for informing me about the US Postal Inspector, I will try this one also. Do you think it makes a difference since I live in Canada?

I still have the original receipt with the Serial number of both the tablet and the keyboard dock. I'm really sure he didn't bought another one in store since this model isn't available anymore.

For now, I've sent some email and I still wait for an answer from the buyer. From now he didn't said a single word since the claim has been filed. He was really communicative at the beginning of the transaction but not anymore now. He just ignore my message since he still use his account for buying related item to the tablet.
