Can things get any worse? Mail held up at the US border. So Canada Post isn't guaranteeing Xpresspost delivery. I can just see a lot of late delivery marks against sellers.

It would be helpful to know how long the delays are. A couple of days, a couple of weeks? Longer?
This is no doubt another ploy by Trump so Canadian citizens will put pressure on the gov't to settle NAFTA quickly (and that would mean more favourable terms for Trump). It may not matter the reason that my US sales have come to a dead halt. Soon, everyone's might...

I assure you I would NOT be a Trumper. Yes I do believe it....or more precisely I fear that this is the reason The slow down at US Customs is coming days after Trump's angry tweet about Trudeau after the G7 and Trump's follow up tweet saying 'Trudeau is going to cost Canadians a lot of money'. I can completely see Trump ordering every package coming in from Canada to be inspected, in order to slow the flow of inbound packages and put pressure on Canadians who sell to the US (companies large and small), as it will discourage people based in the US from ordering from Canada because they don't want to wait ages for the package to clear Customs. I really hope i'm wrong but this is my take on it. If you have another perspective please share....

While it sounds like Trump's off the cuff and poorly considered idea, if he had done it, it would have been by tweet and we would know about it.
And he would have added some hysterical and inaccurate reason.
I'm not too clear on the exact relationship of the USPS compared to Canada Post .CPO is a crown corporation which reports to Parliament but is not a government department.
To the best of my knowledge, CPO turns its profits over to Revenue Canada, but the only real controls Parliament has over the corporation are over the price of first class mail and of mail registration.
How USPS reports to Congress and what controls Congress has over them is unknown to me.

well, I hope i'm wrong about this, but this isn't a USPS issue. The delay is being caused by US Customs, which is controlled and run by the US government. That is where the delay is occurring and that is something Trump would have direct control over. I can see him ordering packages from Canada being more thoroughly inspected for 'national security' reasons (and thus delaying their passage through US Customs) in order to frustrate US Customers, who will hear of the delays and be less willing to order from Canada because they don't want what they ordered to experience long delays. Perhaps i'm being paranoid, but the trade war is escalating on all fronts, and increased package scrutiny would be an escalation. It's just the timing of this that makes me feel this way. I've been selling on Ebay for 18 years and don't recall ever once seeing a message from Canada Post like this.

Maybe Ebay should get involved and protect sellers from late deliveries or INR claims due to this or will we just have to shut down till this is resolved?

Maybe if someone deals with Chit Chat Express, thay could contact them to see if they have any info about delays at the border.

My issue is if you have no tracking you have no idea if it is customs, lost, or buyer telling fibs.
If you do have tracking and it goes past the delivery date time frame and still not delivered, if a claim is opened, Ebay will force a refund as they do not care about anything but delivery.
Depending on what you sell and original cost, it may or may not be worth the risk.
For me, it is not and I will be ending all my US listings as they were only shipped to the US.
I will also remove US shipping from all my Canadian Listings as tracking is not an option under most conditions.

Considering we don’t actually know if the delay is going to cause a problem it seems a bit extreme to stop shipping to the US at this point.

Had a recent low value order going to Hawaii from Calgary. Due to the value customer requested US Airmail service. Filed for a remorse return request after 9 business days. After contacting them found out actual reason for the request was because item had not arrived. (They wanted to return something that hadn't arrived yet...Okayyyy???) Attempted to explain 9 days by airmail is not a reasonable expectation for delivery and to be patient for delivery. No follow up emails from them to date. Meantime after 12 days they escalated case. With this recent update from Canadapost this order is more than likely delayed in customs....Somewhere?? It will eventually arrive. As to a date. Who knows? Sadly, fibbing is always a possibility one way or another and really not a thing a seller can do about it one way or the other!!!

Was the return accepted by you or automatically by the system? If not and they escalated it, then you likely received an unresolved case defect.

Not with what I sell and CP's high mailing costs to send to the US and value of many items I sell.
All my issues with INAD, non receipt, late delivery, etc have all been from the US and I am not willing to take a higher risk.
As they say, each to their own.
