I was at my local PO 5 minites ago, their system is back up (for now) but had been on/off (mostly off) all morning. They put up a sign that they are closing early today (5:00pm)
Hydro One is reporting a ton of outages throughout their service area. Here in the "center of the universe" Toronto Hydro only reported a handful of small outages.

More likely the data center was caught up in the power failure. Obviously data centers have back up power but how long that can operate and at what level are unknown.
The woman at my post office told me that it had been up and down (mostly down) in the morning but had returned to "normal" before I went there (3:00pm).
I have friends in the blackout area, one got their power back to Tuesday evening but they have no cell connectivity, another is still out, currently with no specified restoration time (initially he was told Sunday evening). Worse still there is more freezing rain expected over the next 24 hours, there could be even greater damage than on the first go round if there are any trees left to fall on wires.
