I WAS WRONGLY GIVEN A NEGATIVE REVIEW

MY BUYER GAVE ME A "NEGATIVE REVIEW" FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS CAUSED BY EBAY.

AFTER THE BUYER  PURCHASED AN ITEM OF MINE IN AUCTION I ATTEMPTED TO SEND THEM THE INVOICE. AT THAT POINT A "RED FLAG" MESSAGE FROM EBAY POPS UP  STATING THAT THE BUYER  WANTS THE ITEM THAT THEY HAD JUST WON SHIPPED TO A COUNTRY THAT I DON'T SHIP TO.

I THEN COULDN'T SEND THE INVOICE THROUGH, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CANCEL THE ORDER AND RELIST THE ITEM ON EBAY. AFTER A DAY, THE BUYER  SENDS ME A BLISTERING NEGATIVE REVIEW. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I DESERVE THIS BUT EBAY WILL NOT REMOVE IT. I.'M SO **bleep** OFF AT EBAY THAT THEY CAN'T ADMIT THAT THEY SENT ME THE "RED FLAG" MESSAGE.

NOTE : AVOID THIS BUYER AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO TARNISH YOUR 100% RATING AS I HAVE HAD DONE TO ME.

Your caps key is locked.

It might have helped if you had first contacted the customer and asked if they had a Canadian or US address which you can ship to.

And if not, if they would prefer to cancel, which would have no repercussions on their account.  (Not that your cancellation would either, but it's reassuring.)

The message could include the information that you cannot invoice them due to their location.

It sounds as if the seller could in fact give you a North American address. Many overseas buyers use US-based freight forwarders.

And eBay even encourages this by providing their own freight forwarding service to US (eIS) and UK (GSP) sellers. These programs have greater Seller Protection than domestic sales.

We are not allowed to "name and shame" other members on the Boards so you can expect to have the buyer's ID removed from your post.

I notice four cancellations in your feedback which apparently you made.

The buyer you mention in your post is a longtime eBay member registered in Canada and sells on eBay shipping out of Ontario.   Are you sure you're dealing with the correct buyer?

You did have a choice in how to deal with this, starting with communicating with the buyer to see what was up with the shipping address you were given by eBay.

Seeing as your relisted auction has worldwide shipping offered on it (with a small handful of exceptions), I'm wondering if you and your buyer are a victim of an eBay glitch that may have been caused by eBay's handling of sellers using Canada Post for shipping.

I would cancel the current auction and get this sorted out with the high bidder from the previous auction.  If the buyer is still willing to go through with this sale, perhaps the item can be relisted as a private sale item and the buyer can purchase the glove that way.

Re: I WAS WRONGLY GIVEN A NEGATIVE REVIEW

Did you message the buyer after trying to send the invoice to ask if they have a US or Canadian address?

Sometimes people from other countries have an address in Canada or the USA. Either a friend or family member. Or a forwarding service. It happens all the time. Their profile is still attached to whatever country they are in, but when they go to pay for your item they will enter their US/Canadian address.

If you didn't contact them. this might be why they are confused and think you "made up" the story about the not having a Canada/USA address.

The actual way to resolve the issue would be to contact the buyer and explain why you thought they weren't in Canada or USA, ask if they have an address in one of those countries, and then re-list the item for them as a Buy It Now that requires immediate payment. Ask that after the item is shipped, they accept a feedback revision on their original negative feedback that was clearly a misunderstanding between you two.

eBay is unlikely to remove the feedback because if you never even contacted the buyer to ask them about the problem, to them it looks like you cancelled an auction for an invalid reason.

One negative feedback also doesn't matter much so long as your reply makes you sound professional and easy to deal with.

PS  Re feedback reply, don't leave feedback in all caps, generally viewed as yelling....

@amethystandy  Under "Buyer Management", do you have the box ticked that says "Block buyers whose primary shipping address is in a location to which I don’t ship"?

The original auction offered shipping only to Canada and the United States and it appears that the seller did block bids from buyers with primary shipping locations other than those.

The relisted auction offers worldwide shipping with the exception of the usual suspects that eBay adds.
