Incoming package from US stuck for days at Mississauga Gateway, anyone else?

I have an incoming package from the US that landed on Jan 13 in Toronto.  Since then, no updates of any  kind.

It would be handled by Mississauga Gateway,  then handed to Customs and when released, given back to Gateway.

Normally when a US package lands it is handed over to Customs by CP within a day or two.  But 7 have passed and nothing.

There's nothing on the internet about inbound package delays anymore, i assumed all was fine now.   Anyone seeing similar delays on incoming US packages?

Gateway is still quite backed up especially with incoming International.

For reasons I cannot fathom foreign postal services (especially USPS) continued to ship to Canada for about half of the strike period.

I had that issue last year with an order coming from the Netherlands. It was stuck after being released from customs for about 10 days. No explanation.

They kept shipping to Canada becasue CP didn't tell them not to.  Which i was very surprised by.  That's what caused packages to keep flowing in for 2 weeks or so after the strike started.  Not sure what the thinking was on CP's part.   Maybe to allow people to keep buying things for Christmas rather than be frustrated by other PO's not shipping to Canada?   Maybe CP was anticipating the strike would not be a long one (expecting the gov't to step in much sooner than they did).

That’s my hypothesis.  Canada Post management saw what happened with the rail and port strikes and figured the government would work off the same playbook.

Optimistic of management to think a strike with most of the same demands as the previous one would be settled quickly.

Keep in mind that the date you see is the last time the parcel was recorded, not necessarily where it is.

Was this an eIS shipment?

What is the last estimated date for arrival?

If it was eIS and the last estimated date has passed, you would win an INR claim and the refund would be paid by eBay/eIS not by your seller.

And when the parcel arrives late, eIS don't want it back.

If it was a direct shipment, and you win an INR dispute, you can return the refund by Messaging the seller and asking for their Paypal address. This is allowed because you have been in a transaction.

USPS suspends service to lots of countries, countries that I highly doubt inform USPS directly of issues.

Trying to blame USPS incompetance on CP is ridiculous.

Re: Incoming package from US stuck for days at Mississauga Gateway, anyone else?

huh?  I wasn't blaming anybody for anything.

EVERY country was still sending packages to Canada 2 weeks after the strike began, not just USPS.  I had one from Germany land in Canada on Nov 30; it was shipped from Germany Nov 24 and i purchased the item on Nov 22, a week after the strike started.

After that packages stopped coming from all other countries because CP informed them of the strike and told them to stop and they all stopped accepting packages for Canada.

That's the way the postal system works.  If one country has a disruption, for whatever reason, they advise other postal systems to post delay alerts or simply stop sending packages.  It's been like that for decades.

USPS suspended service when Canada Post told them (and other postal companies) to stop sending mail. Canada Post did not send that notice until the 2nd week of the strike. Over optimistic about how quick things would get settled and CPC ended up running short on storage space...

Re: Incoming package from US stuck for days at Mississauga Gateway, anyone else?

i'm starting to give up on ever seeing my package.  Over 10 days now and still hasn't been scanned by CP Gateway.  No way i believe they are still this backed up....the strike ended five weeks ago.

For contrast another international package of mine landed in Montreal and was processed within hours.  But the one at Gateway hasn't been touched for 10 days and counting.  It's  a $250 item.....the seller's not going to be happy about this chargeback when it comes.  I'll wait a good long time yet but hope that i'll see it has pretty much faded.

"i'm starting to give up on ever seeing my package. Over 10 days now and still hasn't been scanned by CP Gateway"

For reference, this order I had from India showed in the tracking that it arrived to YYZ on December 4th...And it was delivered to me on January 20th. It never updated the tracking since that date in December.

I know every package is a different story, but it may give you some perspective.
